Stone Town - Zanzibar
Stone Town - Zanzibar
Stone Town of Zanzibar , also known as Mji Mkongwe (Swahili for "old town"), is the old part of Zanzibar City, the main city of Zanzibar, in Tanzania. The newer portion of the city is known as Ng'ambo, Swahili for 'the other side'. Stone Town is located on the western coast of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago. Former capital of the Zanzibar Sultanate, and flourishing centre of the spice trade as well as the slave trade in the 19th century, it retained its importance as the main city of Zanzibar during the period of the British protectorate. When Tanganyika and Zanzibar joined each other to form the United Republic of Tanzania, Zanzibar kept a semi-autonomous status, with Stone Town as its local government seat.
Stone Town is a city of prominent historical and artistic importance in East Africa. Its architecture, mostly dating back to the 19th century, reflects the diverse influences underlying the Swahili culture, giving a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. For this reason, the town was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
In a dim Cobra Warehouse somewhere in the city Zartan is giving the Dreadnoks their instructions. He's taking special precautions to plan the operation and is taking no chance that it might get botched up.
"Torch will ride with me to the Night Creeper's HQ where I will enter from the roof. Look for the barrel of fire in the alley, that's where he'll be waiting for you. Zandar should have your entrance secured by that time.
Monkey Wrench, you set up our distraction then join the others as they come in the back door. Clown will stay at the truck with Thrasher a block away and make sure the escape is secure. Gnawgahyde's already in place, NO ONE is to go on roof!"
"I gots a question, why we just ain't this Hiss tank?"
"Because Monkey Wrench I don't want them to know we're coming. I plan to walk in there like I own the joint, and none of them will stand in my way! ...What, Torch?"
"Where's the loo?"
I was supposed to go out the evening after the Göteborg half marathon, but after 21km I could hardly walk, let alone dance.

The Shandong mountain sides cruch and crackle as you wander along beneath the bare-branched trees. Much of the soil becomes covered in a thick layer of brown, dry leaves like these.
Mother Nature sent me jokes on two different occasions. I found and kept the stick woman one year, found potatoman the next. They struck me as hilarious......hope you find them amusing too.
I posted a slightly different version of this years ago, and have been reworking it, so will have the new version up soon, to add to my ""album art" set.

"Leave not your bough, my slender song-bird sweet,
But pipe me now your roundelay complete.
Come, gentle breeze, and tarrying on your way,
Whisper my trees what you have seen to-day.
Stand, golden cloud, until my song be done,
(For he’s too proud) before the face of the sun.
So one did sing, and the other breathed a story;
Then both took wing, and the sun stepped forth in glory."
~ Siegfried Sassoon, 1886-1967 ~

An Impromptu visit with Fudgie81 and Tony Clerkson to the new Transport Museum. None of the actual Museum itself as this was a far more interesting sight.
I've decided from now on to name all my pictures after Foo Fighters songs where I can.
