Recent flooding in Colombo - it was sudden following heavy monsoonal rains and the overflowing or a nearby river. There was a chaos of activity as people worked to save themselves and their possessions.

Created for the Toy Sunday theme, CHAOS.
Less than half a mile south of White Pocket Butte, or 0.8 mile from the White Pocket parking lot, this standalone formation looks a bit like a Cambodian temple that has melted into chaotic patterns.
Because of the extra distance to this feature, I suspect not many visitors to White Pocket walk over to see it, even though it is visible from the road to the WP parking lot. The colorful structure is about 100 x 70 yards in size, and has a flake garden on the east side and juniper trees on top.

I always wanted to see Africa. When Annie offered to go I did not think twice. Little I knew about all the dust, the luck of running water, the risks of numerous diseases. Little I knew how lovely and gentle the people in Tanzania are, how delicious the food is and how picturesque the place is.. It was a real treat to the senses, the soul and the mind.

It might seem fine and dandy, but because the eastbound lanes of the gardiner were closed, traffic chaos ensued. It was madness, despite the fact it was 1am.

With the war destroying villages and half the province the king calls on his allies to come to his aid. From various spies the lego eagles soldiers learn of the black falcons main camp. A days journey leads them to the falcons camp. Black falcon archers call out, We are under attack!! Soldiers from both side charge at each other with a thunderous roar. The battle is quick sending the black falcons to fall back to higher ground to escape total defeat.

I think of this photo being possibly a sequel to this picture. In the previous photo the women is swallowed by the chaos of the storm. But this photo shows the hope of controlling the storm. Everyone at some point feels like there life is just a storm of chaos, drowning them in it. This photo shows how at some point you need to take control of the chaos, and use it to empower yourself by learning from it and becoming the better person for it.
When I was thinking about this photo the idea reminded a bit about Wizard of Oz. So keeping that in mind I decided on using this dress, because it reminded me of something Dorthy might wear and it felt appropriate for the shoot.

Funny, I shot a white paper shot a few weeks back for the CORNER challenge...
Still, time for something new. "order from chaos" was not originally intended, yet it was a byproduct of trying different comps.
After shooting various rips and tears of white paper, I decided to "ball-up" some of the smaller discards and took a series of 18 shots. When culling my challenge work, "order from chaos" stood out immensely for me, and it was the first of those 18 shots---the other 17 shots seemed forced while "ofc" felt pure, natural. You know that feeling...
Another reason I am really fond of "ofc" is that the composition itself has minor flaws, namely a bit of camera shake from a hand-held photograph and a lower shutter speed. Why not use the expensive tripod and head I own, two reasons; I'm lazy but more importantly being mobile with my rig gives me freedom and flexibility to explore more artistic compositions. Lazy or artistic, it's your call...i do what I need to do. ;-)
Anyway, "order from chaos" was shot at MFD for a lifesize reproduction of 1:1, so this frame is 22mm on the longside by 15mm on the short side--the size of the EOS-M2 sensor.
