Tales from the photo archives....Telephoto view of Zabriskie Point, Death Valley National Park, California, USA circa 2010
Perhaps the most famous Death Valley viewpoint; an elevated overlook Zabriskie Point of a colorful, undulating landscape of gullies and mud hills at the edge of the Black Mountains, just a few miles east of Death Valley.
Tales from the photo archives...Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, near Stovepipe Wells, Inyo County, Death Valley National Park, California, circa April 2020

Digging into the photo archives....A photo capturing a scenic vista of rolling hills in the Antelope Valley of Spring wildflowers, most notably California poppies.
The Antelope Valley is home to a wide range of plants and animals. This includes hundreds of plants such as the California Juniper, Joshua tree, California Scrub Oak, Creosote, and wildflowers, notably the California poppy. Winter brings much-needed rain which slowly penetrates the area's dry ground, bringing up native grasses and wildflowers. Poppy season depends completely on the precipitation. Source : Wikipedia
Alcatraz Island is located in San Francisco Bay, 1.25 miles offshore from San Francisco, California. The small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison, and a federal prison from 1934 until 21 March 1963. Golden Gate Bridge can be seen in the background.
#NPS106 - Happy Founders Day! The Organic Act became law #onthisday in 1916 formally creating the National Park Service.
What to say about our favorite government agency on this, its 106th anniversary? The only thing to say, I suppose; that the National Park Service is perhaps our most noble endeavor. What we choose to save on our planet reveals what kind of species we are. Shall we save our tallest mountains? Our deepest canyons? Our oldest trees? Our waters and our skies and our lands and our history? Even our mistakes? Even the most ugly instances of where our culture has stumbled so that we may learn from them and improve? Yes. All that and more. In these uncertain times, when many are actively questioning the purpose and functionality of the National Park Service, may we always remember that what we choose to save about the land and our past is what we choose to save about ourselves. The National Parks are our best idea because they are OUR democratic spaces and they reflect OUR inclusivity and diversity.
May the NPS have its best days before it.
Happy 106th anniversary!

“The Golden Gate Bridge’s daily strip tease from enveloping stoles of mist to full frontal glory is still the most provocative show in town.” — Mary Moore Mason
The Golden Gate Bridge opened to the public in 1937 and quickly established itself as one of the most recognisable bridges in the world. When it was built, the Golden Gate Bridge spanned 4,200 feet and staked its claim as the longest suspension bridge in the world.
5 Fun Facts About the Golden Gate Bridge:
1. The bridge is actually not golden at all! It's a bright red-orange.
2. It was named one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
3. It took four years to build.
4. There are approximately 600,000 rivets in each of the bridge's towers.
5. It's the most photographed bridge in the world.

Back to processing some of my California pics. This is one of my favorites from the trip. Another classic case of chasing sunsets...Taken somewhere on Rt1 near Big Sur..the famous Pacific Coast highway...just as breathtaking as i had read and heard. Taken about 45 mins or so after sunset. Long exp of 30 secs.
Taken around the same place as this was taken.
Death Valley is pretty in pink in this panoramic shot from December 2022. I've edited a ton of shots from Zabriskie Point before, but never one that focuses on the surrounding structures than on the "usual" point of the overlook. It's all wonderful.
Many thanks for all the kind words on the last picture to hit explore. It's so hard to respond to each one, but I'm honored each time.
Traveling sometimes means that you’re in a state of perpetual yearning. You’re always yearning for motion, exploration, understanding. You’re yearning for the next trail or the next overlook. And when you’re home, you’re yearning to be back on the road. That can make you miserable. The trick is to embrace that yearning. Yearning to be somewhere is all part of the journey.

Spring is not just one of the seasons, it is a new life. A magical time when nature comes to life, the gentle sun warms, the birds sing joyfully on the branches, everything around turns green, blooms, and smells sweet. Time of fine mood, smiles, happiness, love. Everyone wants to share their positive emotions with loved ones. A person is in a hurry to tell the whole world about the feelings that overwhelm the heart. After all, it is simply impossible to remain silent about a miracle. My photo art helps to accurately and interestingly convey what is happening in our souls this season.

Another telephoto capture from my California Dreamin’ photo archives series...Zabriskie Point, northwest toward Manly Beacon and Red Cathedral, Death Valley National Park, California, USA circa April, 2010
One of the most famous Death Valley viewpoint...Zabriskie Point, a colorful, undulating landscape of gullies and mud hills at the edge of the Black Mountains, just a few miles east of Death Valley...The views from Zabriskie Point are amazing in every direction. Beneath Zabriskie Point are the upper reaches of Gower Gulch, which brings rainwater and eroded minerals to the salt flats below.
