My brother went back home (ontario, canada) for a wedding, but he also stopped in to see relatives and our grandmother gave him a whole bunch of buttons to pass on to me. Most of the 5-10 pounds or so of buttons are mother of pearl, and a select few are colored. Here's a selection of the "plain" ones. I've got at least a pound worth of each pile, some have two or three pounds, at a crude estimate. Some are older than my grandmother (and she's in her 80s).

Finally sewed the buttons on the Rock 'n Weave STR socks! I used some thrifted buttons I found at my favorite thrifty shop. These socks are going to my mom along with an extra button and yarn. 1/20/07
