Here's a rare photo opportunity captured at Bulape Hospital in 2005. What's so rare about it?
First, there are three doctors in scrubs ready for surgery. Second, one of the three doctors is an American female doctor, Dr. Rebecca. Three, Bulape's head nurse, the third person (standing on the right), was preparing to go to medical school.
The Bulape Hospital serves a rural population of about 100,000 people with two doctors.
Since 2005, Bulape has managed (actually struggled) to keep two doctors on staff. The faces have changed almost annually. That's an accomplishment! Not too many bush hospitals in rural Congo have been so successful in maintaining or even staying open. Doctors don't like the working conditions especially in the bush.
Pictured from left to right, Dr. Francois, Dr. Bernard, Dr. Rebecca, and Head Nurse Jean.

Republican presidential candidate Texas Gov. George W. Bush turns and laughs at the national media pool as he sits in a classroom at Westerville South High School in Westerville, Ohio. Bush was watching his wife on CSPAN giving a speech at the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia Monday night July 31, 2000. On the left is Kate Madsen, who will be a senior at Westerville South High in the fall. The 24 students were hand picked to be in the photo op with the candidate.

Takoda and I spotted this George Bush flag in dog poo on our walk tonight. I've never photographed dog poo before but this pile was worthy.

PODPAST: Just once - no blood...
with STEFAN MOLYNEUX.
Stefan Molyneux is the host of Freedomain Radio. I was an acquaintance with the man, having met him around ten years ago. We had many interesting conversations. Stefan is an extremely intelligent and provocative writer and speaker.
Even though he recoiled from my art, I have always liked him and found him most fascinating. I think you will too.
But brace yourself.
The below PODCAST is emotionally and intellectually provocative. It is for those who are politically inclined—or else who is otherwise concerned about the issues of our times when it comes to government, education, the war, Bush, aggressive regulation, taxation, the concept of God, etc.
I have listened to quite a few of his PODCASTS and I can vouch that you will be fascinated by this man’s thoughts....perhaps you will be inspired or irked. It all depends. It is up to you.
Give it a try. Let me know what you think.

An old icon I designed in 2004 of George W. Bush beside a new icon I designed of Barack Obama in 2009. Could also be described as Fear vs. Hope or a host of other contrasts. This is less a political statement than it is an observation of the global mood. It is easy to vilify Bush since his work is in the past. It is also easy to glorify Obama when he has yet to prove himself.
