Portulacaria afra (known as elephant bush, porkbush, purslane tree and spekboom in Afrikaans) is a small-leaved succulent plant found in South Africa. These succulents commonly have a reddish stem and leaves that are green, but also a variegated cultivar is often seen in cultivation. They are simple to care for and make easy houseplants for a sunny location. In frost-free regions they may be used in outdoor landscaping.
Drought-tolerant and fire-resistant, it will endure desert sun and heat once established.

This male bush tit was caught briefly in the sunlight, giving a much better opportunity for a shot than the usual lurking deep within the bush.
Is anybody else noticing that Flickr views and fave's are in decline at the moment. I don't know if my expectations are too high, my photos are really crap, or there just aren't as many people on Flickr anymore. Despite a better camera, better lenses, better editing software and better photography, my photo views and likes have fallen off dramatically in the past 6 months.
If anyone can suggest any groups that are active in Flickr, please drop me a note and let me know where to find them. I'm not interested in post 1, favourite 1 groups, just genuine photography enthusiasts who appreciate the photography of others.

The speckled bush-cricket (Leptophyes punctatissima) is a flightless species of bush-cricket that occurs across most of Europe.
Yellow Robin - alert but not alarmed was posing for a while before spotting that tasty bug on the ground.

85. Shades of orange
I passed this bush in one of the gardens on my walk into town last week
A bush spilling out from a suburban garden obscuring my view of the scaffolding surrounding the new house being built across the road.
This is actually an old toothbrush.
I used a few yellow LED bulbs as background to create this photo to mimic bushes with a sunset background.
Well, that's the translation of what this bush is called in my language - Dutch. There is a variety where the flowers form round white balls, looking like snowballs. However, it flowers in early spring.
And they smell so good ...
SoCal hit the burst button this year for wildflowers.
I did not get to see the poppies. which is fine for me because in the lower desert we are blessed with this burst of yellow and gold.
I did not know Brittlebush existed before I moved here.
2017 was a fabulous year for wildflowers ( before this year hit )
I went down a few times to shoot these then.
I've been passing these for a few weeks now in my travels down the hill and finally took a trip down there this afternoon to have my way ......

Brittlebush
The brittle bush is a common plant of the Mojave and Sonoron deserts, they flower from March to June, turning the desert bright yellow. It's a member of the sunflower family and its flowers resembles the sunflower, only in miniature form.
