The Palace of the Winds is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture in India. It is adorned with 953 windows. These were designed to enable the ladies of the royal court to watch street theatre unobserved, hidden behind the delicate latticework. Also known as the Hawa Mahal, the palace was built in 1799 for Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh as part of the women's quarters of the expansive City Palace complex in the heart of Jaipur. The street-facing façade is essentially an enormous screened porch, only one room deep in most places. In 1876, Jaipur was preparing for the visit of the Prince of Wales. To welcome him with warmth and grandeur, Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II ordered the entire city to be painted terracotta pink — a colour symbolizing hospitality and friendliness in Rajput culture — earning Jaipur its nickname of 'The Pink City'.

El origen del templo está vinculado a una epidemia de Peste bubónica que asoló a Garachico entre los años de 1601 y 1606. Existen tres testamentos que refieren que el templo fue construido en 1603 para implorar el fin de la peste.

Much like traditional homes, even churches in the Faroes can have turf roofs. This one happens to be in Skálavík, a small village of less than 200 on the eastern coast of Sandoy. The town is home to a couple of famous Faroese authors, although honestly, famous by Faroese stands is unknown by global standards. The church itself was built way back in 1891.
There's not a ton of villages to see on Sandoy. Within a span of about 20 minutes you can drive from the ferry port in Skopun, through Magn, and into Skalavik. Of course, add some time to walk around a bit, but overall, that's like half the island. Add in time to drive to a couple more remote villages if you like, and you have yourself a nice little day trip.

In the evening, even around the Louvre sometimes a bit of silence returns, after the long days when thousands of visitors visit the world-famous museum. So there is time and peace to look at the wonderfully illuminated historic buildings, enjoy and ponder what these walls would have already seen and experienced. What exciting stories that would be!

The Roman Volubilis was one of the capitals of Mauritania Tingitana (one of the Roman provinces).
The Roman occupation was from the 1st century BC until the 3rd. After the decline of the Roman Empire it is believed to have been abandoned, but Volubilis continued to be inhabited. From the end of the 3rd century the Berbers lived and lived there in harmony together with Syrians and Jews.
The Arab conquest was in the 7th century. In the 8th century, after the foundation of Fez, Volubilis was abandoned and its total decline began and with it, its forgetfulness.

In central part of Historical Boulevard there stands the Panorama “Defense of Sevastopol 1854-1855” – the world-famous monument to national feat of arms, our national pride. One episode of the 349-day long Defense of Sevastopol is depicted there – the day when defenders repulsed the assault on 18 June 1855. The author of this epic pictorial canvas, Franz Roubaud, was a full member of St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts and founder of Russian panoramic art. The Panorama was unveiled for visitors on 14 May 1905 and was stored in a specially designed circular building, built under design by military engineer Friedrich Oskar Enberg and architect Valentin Feldman. Of exquisite beauty is the classical two-column portal of the Panorama’s building, plated with Inkerman limestone and with its upper part decorated with elements of military insignia – the soldier’s St. George Cross, interlaced by a St. George Ribbon with number “349” denoting the numbers of days the Defense lasted.

Yes, there are moments when you even have a city like Venice almost all to yourself, and not even necessarily in a small alleyway away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists. Just visit Venice in January and wait for a cool and rainy night and the city is almost deserted.

The abandoned Cinéma Normandie stands as a relic of another era, its faded sign and peeling paint hinting at a time when films flickered on the screen and crowds filled the seats. Now, the boarded-up entrance and weathered poster tell a story of a place left behind, yet the ghost of its cultural vibrancy lingers in the air. The empty walls seem to whisper memories of stories once told within, but now silence and decay have taken the stage.
