State Library Victoria is the state library of Victoria, Australia. Located in Melbourne, it was established in 1854 as the Melbourne Public Library, making it Australia＇s oldest public library and one of the first free libraries in the world.

This image to me looks like a painting, its the colors, the subject and the mixture of the warm colors with the cold snow and ice. #Leiden is such a photogenic city! I love the #morspoort city gate and especially under different conditions like this time in late february this year.

Santa Maria dei Miracoli presso San Celso is a church and a sanctuary. The construction was begun by Gian Giacomo Dolcebuono and Giovanni Battagio in 1493, to house a miraculous icon of the Madonna, initially on the central plan. The first part to be built was the octagonal dome, covered externally by a tambour with a loggia and arcades decorated by twelve brickwork statues by Agostino De Fondulis, designed in Lombard style by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo (1494-1498). In 1506 to the original edifice a complex with nave and two aisles was added, the former covered by a monumental barrel vault also by Amadeo; the presbytery received a polygonal ambulatory inspired to that in the Duomo. In the 16th century also the square portico in classical style was added, perhaps designed by Cesare Cesariano or Cristoforo Lombardo (il Lombardino). The massive eclectic and Mannerist style façade was designed by Galeazzo Alessi in the late 16th century and was realized by Martino Bassi; it is decorated by numerous statues and reliefs by Stoldo Lorenzi and Annibale Fontana.

Tolga Convent was founded in 1314 on the left bank of the Volga river, on the place of miraculous appearance of the Tolga Icon of the Mother of God. Against all odds of history, beginning with Mongol Yoke, Tolga Convent emerged from ruins and desolation and nowadays attracts thousands of pilgrims. The convent is located not far from Yaroslavl; on the left bank of the river Volga, at the place of confluence of a small river Tolgobolka (or Tolga) into Volga. White stone walls with high angle towers, cathedrals with multiple heads, glaring golden domes and crosses and a predominating massive bell-tower form one magnificent harmonious structure, captivating eyes of those travelling along Volga. The cedar grove has been planted here in the 16th century to commemorate the miraculous appearance of the icon after fire.

В Смутное время Толгская обитель была полностью разорена, но чудотворная икона уцелела. 1612 год отмечен в летописи монастыря древнейшим из известных крестных ходов с Толгской иконой Богородицы в Ярославль, назначенный тогда сборным пунктом для народных ополчений, собиравшихся для спасения Москвы и Русского государства.

The 'Judges Chair' in Dunnabridge Pound. A granite built structure which is believed to have been built in the 16th century to provide shelter for the pound keeper. It is close to the B3357 road between Two Bridges and Dartmeet in the Dartmoor National Park.

"No one knows for sure why this 'chair' is called the Judge's Chair, some say it's linked with the Stannary Court at Crockern Tor which is not far away. The purpose of the Judge's Chair was to provide shelter for the pound keeper. His role was to oversee animals that were driven to the pound following the drifts and to collect any necessary fines from their owners.
Drifts were a round-up of livestock who had illegally grazed within the Forest of Dartmoor."
It is also said that the last pound keeper, Miss Dinah Tuckett was a formidable character, barring the gate and refusing to release any animal before the fine crossed her palm.
The passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor, formerly known as passerelle Solférino (or pont de Solférino), is a footbridge over the River Seine in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.
The bridge was renamed after Léopold Sédar Senghor on 9 October 2006 on the centenary of his birth.
The history of this church is documented as early as the 10th century. The present name derives from a Norman confraternity that rebuilt the church, and dedicated it to the Virgin of the Annunciation. The Ottimati were a congregation of nobles founded by the Normans. Over time, these included the Filocamo, Griso, Altavilla and Borboni. Two views of the former Head Post Office, Aberdeen. This large mainly granite built structure has frontages on both Dee Street and (facing west) and Crown Street (facing east). It was completed in 1904-1907, but I cannot find a record of when it ceased to have a postal function. It was converted to flats in 1999-2001.
This is the western frontage, facing onto Dee Street, taken just after 6pm on 9 July 2025.

The beautiful and ornate Cargills Building in Colombo Fort began construction in 1902 and was completed in 1906 in the Renaissance style architecture. In the past, the building served as Colombo’s premier department store from clothing to groceries. Today, the building still serves as a department store and as well as the city’s most familiar landmarks and a popular destination for architecture tours in Colombo.

New York City - October 16, 2023: View of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor with the Empire State building lit up in red, white and blue colors. The statue is a large neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The copper statue was a gift from the people of France and was designed by French sculptor Fredric Auguste Bartholdi. Its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.
The Khan's Palace in Bakhchisaray was built in the 16th century and served as a residence for a succession of Crimean Khans. The Crimean Khanate was a Turkic vassal state of the Ottoman Empire from 1478 to 1774 -- the longest-lived of the Turkic khanates that succeeded the empire of the Golden Horde.
