The Church of St. Vladimir was built on the site of a medieval cruciform church in the mid-19th century. The church is devoted to Kyivan Prince Vladimir, who, according to the Rus Chronicle, was baptized in Chersonesos. Academician F. I. Chagin and architect D. I. Grimm, architects of the church, designed this two-story building with one chapel on each floor. The chapel of the Nativity of the Mother of God of Korsun' is located on the ground floor; St. Vladimir chapel is on the first floor.

The remains of the cruciform church where the prince of Rus' was initially supposed to have been baptized are preserved on the ground floor of the modern church.

Wandering through Lyon at dusk to find a beautiful illuminated building, I found this one! It was just standing on the side of a street, showing off its beautiful illuminated façade.

People standing in front of it waiting for the bus no longer even notice how surprisingly beautifully decorated and lit this and other houses along the street are. Perhaps understandable if you see them all the time. But for me, an innocent tourist, it was one more beauty.

By the way, if you like French cities and have seen most of Paris several times, visit Lyon!

Nyhavn is a 17th-century waterfront, canal and entertainment district in Copenhagen, Denmark. Stretching from Kongens Nytorv to the harbour front just south of the Royal Playhouse, it is lined by brightly coloured 17th and early 18th century townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants. The canal harbours many historical wooden ships.

I don't know if these lanterns are always hanging over the alley or if they were forgotten during one of the last festivities or maybe they are already waiting for the next occasion as a nightly decoration. In any case, the alley beautify even without a special occasion and in the sunshine of the southern French sun.

When life shuts a door.... Open it again. It's a door!!!!

That's how they work.

The image depicts a narrow alleyway lined with traditional stone houses. The houses have bright green shutters that stand out against the warm, tan-colored stone. The alleyway is bathed in sunlight, casting a golden glow on the scene. The houses have red tile roofs and you can see some plants growing on the balconies. The atmosphere seems peaceful and charming, typical of a small village on the island of Mallorca on a beautiful sunny day.

The "Fool Moon Bridge"At over 500 years old, the Fuli Bridge is yet another ancient stone bridge which can be found in the countryside around Yangshuo. When seen from a distance away, the bridge with its high arched back and the reflection created in the water form a perfect circle, called a full moon by the locals.

Antoine Berjon is the name of the gentleman in focus in the center and the sculpture was created by Clément Jayet. I don't know either of them and neither do I know the woman in the picture in the background, not to mention the blurred gentleman in the foreground. But the arrangement in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon appealed to me and tempted me to play with the depth of field.

Photographed handheld, it is once again amazing to me how you can get good pictures in a rather dark room of a museum.

French yes, Paris no....the French houses are immediately recognizable because of their facades at first glance through the window of this sidewalk café in the middle of the old town of Lyon. Slightly smaller than the French capital, but with quite a bit of self-confident charm, Lyon doesn't need to hide behind Paris.

I usually take pictures with the "big" camera. But here I was "unfortunately" a little too comfortable to dig this out and have therefore only held with the iPhone XR on it and took the picture. And I'm always amazed what pictures are possible with the little thing.
