The Keokuk Bridge, also known as the Keokuk & Hamilton Bridge, carries a double deck single track railway and highway bridge across the Mississippi River between Keokuk, Iowa and Hamilton, Illinois. Designed by Ralph Modjeski and constructed 1915–1916 on the piers of its predecessor that was constructed in 1869–1871. It is located just downstream of Mississippi Lock and Dam number 19 and is documented in the Library of Congress Historic American Engineering Record as survey number IA-3.
Following the completion of the Keokuk-Hamilton Bridge, the upper deck of this bridge, on the Keokuk side, was converted to an observation deck to view the nearby lock and dam and is no longer used for road traffic, but is still used for rail traffic. The bridge was originally owned by the Keokuk & Hamilton Bridge company, but following financial problems in the 1940s, the bridge was given to the City of Keokuk in late 1948.

Ceylon bridge. I was working around there, office things, boring, somehow sad. I wanted to see something this time, I was there before and there was nothing on sight to see, so I considered my chances and discovered that this region is the one with the most covered bridges around.
Since I had to escape, I chosed the prettiest and closest one. I was lucky since it was rebuilt not so long ago, and took the rental car to make a couple of pictures.
Thats the story of us. Me and the bridge. The story of the bridge is in wikipedia, so, why adding more of the same to the already full internet?
Kind regards,
C
Here is a nice afternoon shot of the tower & span on the new Bay Bridge. Since the old bridge was sort of falling apart they had to replace it. (I should probably research what I'm saying here more but it's getting late and I have things to do in the morning).
As seen on another image it looks pretty cool at night but it looks nice to from this vantage point at Treasure Island.
I'm down to less than 2 weeks from surgery time. I will miss posting any images for a few days (maybe a week) but the end result will be so worth it!

Just opened this weekend. The lack of this bridge has been a real pain!! So glad to have it back! In the background you can see the former Northern Pacific bridge spanning across the Mississippi.

Moonrise @ Golden Gate Bridge
Coming back from Point Reyes in the evening, I saw the moon was rising above San Francisco, there was nothing more attractive then taking a moon rise over golden gate bridge! Stopped at Fort Baker, I waited until the lights on the bridge were turn on, then the city lights turned on... it was about 9:00pm when the opportunity came, and sure, I was very hungry, but enjoyed it.
this bridge is a symbol to me... it's a symbol of relaxation... it's a symbol of freedom... that's lake norman under the bridge... my friend keeps his boat on a dock on one side of this bridge and since 2005 we have crossed under this bridge on the way to our own little cove. A place where we listened to great music... took naps that I'll never forget... ate lunch... swam with the fishes... all that stuff.

Arahura Bridge, built in 1888 to carry the Hokitika rail line over the Arahura River on New Zealand's South Island. In 1891 planking was added to make it a road/rail bridge. The bridge was replaced by a modern concrete span in 2009, but this one of the 7 Howe trusses was preserved at the site - - very nicely displayed.
Brunel's wrought iron bowstring arch railway bridge over the Thames at Windsor was built as part of the construction of the Slough to Windsor branch of the Great Western Railway.
This branch wasn't included in the original Parliamentary Act that enabled the building of the GWR because of objections from Eton College, among others. Approval was granted in 1848, subject to provision for the protection of College amenities, including the requirement that the Thames be kept clear where the railway crossed it.
When built and completed in 1849, the bridge had a skew span of 202ft. Its three bowstring trusses formed the bays for the two sets of tracks. The trusses were originally carried on 6ft diameter cast iron piles filled with concrete. These were replaced by brick abutments in 1908, which also had the effect of reducing the span of the bridge to 184ft 6in. At the same time, the cross girders and rail bearers were replaced in steel.
In 1861-65, the original timber approach viaducts were replaced by brick arches. The bridge now carries only one set of tracks.
The Confederation Bridge spanning the Northumberland Strait connects Prince Edward Island to mainland Canada (New Brunswick). The Confederation Bridge is 12.9km in length which makes it the worlds longest bridge over ice covered water.
Located along the lesser known section of the former Mountain Division of the MEC railroad, this iron truss bridge carries the line over the Connecticut River from New Hampshire into Vermont. These tracks have not seen trains in about a quarter century, but the still create an interesting perspective looking in the Green Mountain State.

The Washington Bridge carries six lanes of traffic (plus sidewalks on both sides) over the Harlem River in New York City between the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, connecting 181st Street and Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan to University Avenue in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx. Ramps at either end of the bridge connect to the Trans-Manhattan Expressway and the Cross-Bronx Expressway. The bridge is operated and maintained by the New York City Department of Transportation. It once carried U.S. Route 1, which now travels over the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.
