Took my life into my own hands shooting this in the middle of a busy intersection. Oh, wait....

No, no, listen. It usually is a REALLY BUSY street! I promise! Still, somehow, at the precise moment I took this shot on Sunday afternoon, the Wells Street Bridge was strangely quiet and empty.

Sunday morning before sunrise, no crowds

Un believable news this morning waking up and hearing this bridge has been struck and is no longer standing. We just went over this bridge on Sunday afternoon. Use it quite a lot.

Hopefully those that were on the bridge have not been killed. Prayers for them.

This will have major impact to Baltimore on many levels. Travel, shipping, etc ...

Tower Bridge (built 1886–1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England which crosses the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name, and has become an iconic symbol of London.

The bridge consists of two bridge towers tied together at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical components of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge's present colour scheme dates from 1977, when it was painted red, white and blue for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee. Originally it was painted a mid greenish-blue colour. (Wikipedia)

Cádiz

The bridge of the Constitution of 18125 (originally called the Pepa bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge that crosses the bay of Cádiz, giving access to Cádiz from the mainland, being the third access to the city, after the link by the Isthmus of San Fernando and the Carranza bridge. The bridge is the continuation of the Southern highway, forming an integral part of the Access highway to Cádiz, being responsible for it by the Ministry of Development of the state government. The board is divided between the dual carriageway (two lanes in each direction) and another carriageway reserved for public transport.

The bridge began construction in 2008 and was opened on September 24, 2015.6 Once opened, it became the brightest bridge in Spain at 540 meters. Considering the cable-stayed bridges, it would be the third brightest bridge in Europe, after the Normandy bridge (856 m) and the Rio-Antirio bridge (three 560 m spans). The total work consists of the bridge over the bay, with a total length of 3,092m, 1,440 of which over the water, plus the 796m Río San Pedro Viaduct. With the accesses to the bridges, the work extends over 5 km.

The project was written by the engineer Javier Manterola and has been carried out by the Spanish company Dragados. The total cost of the project was 511 million euros.7

is a road bridge spanning the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland, joining the south quays to Blackhall Place on the north side. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, it is a single-span structural steel design, 40 m (131 ft) long, with the deck supported from two outward angled arches.[2]

I was hiking the trail that runs from Pebble Beach to Bean Hollow, when I came upon a bridge. I thought, how wonderful that somebody thought to build a bridge here, as the alternative was to climb down a steep bank and struggle up the other side. It strikes me, that in this day and age, we could use a few more bridge builders to ensure our safe passage.

TOWER BRIDGE – this London icon spans both the River Thames and the ages. Completed in 1894 the bridge ushers 40,000 vehicles safely across the river, daily. An engineering wonder, the bridge required 400 workers and 8 years of construction to complete. The sight of the Gothic towers rising above the skyline is a must-see. The bridge was designed to be architecturally sympathetic with the nearby Tower of London.

Construction on the bridge, the second to cross this river, began in 1896, with Leffert L. Buck as chief engineer, Henry Hornbostel as architect and Holton D. Robinson as assistant engineer, and the bridge opened on December 19, 1903 . At the time it was constructed, the Williamsburg Bridge set the record for the longest suspension bridge span on Earth. The record fell in 1924, when the Bear Mountain Bridge was completed.

Crimean bridge - suspension bridge in Moscow, passes across the Moscow River. The bridge was built during Stalin's reconstruction of the city and is open May 1, 1938 the length of the span of the river - 168 meters. The bridge has a span 3; its total length - 688 m, width 38.5 m.

From April to December 2001, work on the general reconstruction of the Crimean Bridge. During this time, builders repave the sidewalks and the roadway of the bridge. Prefabricated slabs of pavement have been replaced by a monolith. In addition, the waterproofing of the bridge, carried out anti-corrosion treatment of metal structures has been updated. It replaced as 5500 square meters of granite cladding.

These friends/sisters were enjoying sliding down the smooth rock, so I decided to include them in the composition, and try to give the photo an "old-fashioned" feel..

Under the bridge

As I'm busy with work and real life getting in the way this weekend I won't be able to get out with the camera. So here's another shot from my trip to London in November. Taken as the sun was rising on a very cold morning on the South Bank. Probably London's most iconic bridge which is often mistaken as "London" Bridge.
