WIKI:
The Good Old Days was a popular BBC television light entertainment programme which ran from 1953 to 1983.
It was recorded live at the Leeds City Varieties and recreated an authentic atmosphere of the Victorian–Edwardian music hall with songs and sketches of the era performed by present-day performers in the style of the original artistes.
The audience dressed in period costume and joined in the singing, especially the singing of Down at the Old Bull and Bush which closed the show. The show was compered by Leonard Sachs who introduced the acts. In the course of its run it featured about 2000 artists.
Each year, Gallery Route One in Point Reyes invites over a hundred artists to create unique works of art using a wooden box.
Here are the inspiring artworks they created this year: they range in style from whimsical to poignant and thought-provoking. These photos were taken on closing day, when the gallery organized a live auction for each of this year’s 150 boxes. The proceeds support the gallery’s exhibits and community programs.
Two of the boxes were created by members of our art community: Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) contributed an illuminated box called ‘Magical’, while Geo Monley and Meryl Rubenstein made ‘Les Puzzles.’
Members of ‘Pataphysical Studios came to cheer for their peers -- Dr. Really was the highest bidder for Dr. Rindbrain’s piece, which was thus kept in the family. After the show, we all went to Stellina to celebrate over a nice dinner.

I don't usually buy TV dinner-type food, but it was on sale and the box looked decent. The result looked similar and was pretty good! Lots of shrimp and flavourful. Could use a little more salt or spice.
Rating: 8/10
Postland Signal Box in November 2005. A remarkable survivor although it has seen better days. This is on the former line between March and Spalding that closed in November 1982. There are other boxes on this line that survive at Murrow, French Drove and Cowbit. Plans have been mentioned to reopen this line, but the opening of the A16 over a section of the old line make this look unlikely.

My light box/tent is made from artist's canvas stretcher bars with thin white fabric stretched over them. It's held together with a big elastic band at the back, so I can take it apart and lay it flat to store it. It sits on a piece of white foamcore board. You can drape paper or more fabric over the top if you need top lighting.
Let's be honest, the economy stinks right now - and our schools are in need of as much help as possible. Hope and I are collecting box tops for her school. If you would like to help out send us your box tops:

This box was a gift from my Grandma Jeanne to my Grandfather Daniel in December of 1924, when they'd been married a few years. It's always been on my mother's desk, and in Cairo, she had it fitted with a wrought iron frame. When we moved here to Brooklyn, she gave it to us and now it's got all our wedding memories in it.
It is, needless to say, very precious to me. I never met my grandfather but I remember Grandma Jeanne well - and the spidery, neat handwriting dedicating the box on the inside reminds me of her.
