The box that Alex, our ring bearer, will be carrying, complete with wedding rings which should be ready tomorrow... but I won't get my hopes up because they were supposed to be ready a week ago!
Horrible webcam photos. Lost my camera, so this is what I have to resort to.
Micro braids, self installed 6-8 hours, all natural hair, no extensions. Braids braided together to look curly.
Pyramid box in beige, brown, dark brown and blue Delicas topped with a long drop bead. The box has little square beads for feet.
This is a little mosaic treasure/jewelry box ~ not the greatest picture unfortunately. The top is done in gorgeous red glass tiles, millefiori, stained glass and the sides are all done in mirror. The base is painted in black. On its way to Bali-HI for July's First Friday.
BOX OF SHADOWS
Edition of 4 signed boxes
For sale at : www.tiradalimitada.com
This Box of Shadows collection has been inspired by the work “U.S.A. Surpasses all the genocide records!” that George Maciunas made in 1969 as a way of protest against the Vietnam War pointing out the violence in the world and specially that of the U.S.A.

Now I have wanted to broaden it by showing the number of deaths in the most bloody wars in history of man, always consequence of the ambition of a greedy minority.
I conclude with a card that poses the question of how many casualties will left the global financial crisis that started in 2008, now considered by many as our III War World.
For the time being we have only information about the people killed in protests, occupations and rallies, or of those who have killed themselves bankrupt for junk bonds, subprime credits or whatever other kind of those economy tricks, but we should start counting all the people slowly dying at home in the streets or in hospitals by depression, hunger, shame, or rage due to the cuts in the welfare state.
Inside the box there are 12 cards with a drawing on one side and one of the following texts on the other:
Card 1
Spanish Civil War 1936- 1950: 700,000 dead
Card 2
World War II 1939- 1945: 75 million dead
Card 3
World War I 1914 - 1918: 31 million dead
Card 4
Napoleonic Wars 1799- 1815: 7,203,000 dead
Card 5
Russian Civil War 1917 – 1922: 20 million dead
Card 6
Darfur Conflict 2003-2011: 450,000 dead
Card 7
The Crusades 1096- 1291: 6,000,000 dead
Card 8
Second Congo War 1998-2003: 7,000,000 dead
Card 9
Ivorian Civil War 2002 – 2007 : 400,000 dead
Card 10
Somali Civil war 1988- 2011: 1,000,000 dead

My third iteration of a custom box to hold my VJ gear for live performance.
The box and APC40 can be flipped to face either the artist (for in-studio work) or the audience (for performance). This is audience mode.
This is a box that I made for my wife for Christmas. Although she is a westerner, she speaks Vietnamese, and her viet name is Yến, which means Swallow. For this reason, I put a small inlay of a barn swallow in the bottom left corner of the top of the box.
This was my first attempt at using an inlay. I cut the shape from a mother of pearl blank, and then used a mini-router (dremel) to cut the pocket for the inlay.
The box measures roughly 10"x16"x6". The sides are rosewood (Dalbergia nigra), the top is American Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) with a maple (Acer rubrum) and Bloodwood (Brosimum rubescens ) frame. The bottom of the box (although you can't see it) is cedar (Thuja plicata).
The hinges on the back are brass, and are pocketed in small mortises.
I finished the box with about 10 coats of wipe on poly that was then sanded to p2500 grit, and then buffed to a piano-like shine. I will add a wax later this week.
The photos don't do the irridescent top justice. The chatoyancy of the figured black walnut and the bloodwood is outstanding.
I still have some work to do with the inside, and there are a few small mistakes, but overall I am pleased with this box.

Won first place at IPCA retreat in Chicago. Lisa P. gave us a tin to cover. The inspiration is "The greener grass on the other side of the fence" . The Dandelion is the official flower of my yard.
More mooncake boxes added to my collection. This is from Resort World at Sentosa. It's quite pretty and acts as a handy bag.

Mr Box Turtle and I were picking blackberries in the front yard. Hadn't seen the rascal in a while, it has been here for the 32 yrs that I bave lived here and he will likely out live me as they get to be 150 or so. Always enjoy seeing it. Check it's video out. The Muscadinevines seem to provide a challenge for him. .
The only clues that I have so far are these. On the back of one of the boxes there is some hand writing:
“Decoration Day Procession” which later became Veterans Day.
“Crematory”
“1898”
