I kept trying to get pics of that church, but a bunch of slow walkers kept getting in the way. Frustrating. But at least there were costumes. Check out the guy in the blue bathrobe.
This one I love because it is multi-directional! Had a lot of fun putting this one together because it was so easy!
Wrote a little more here.

A (probable) final look at Murrieta's Bed Bath And Beyond store at Village Walk Plaza
Empty space and a former register/work space
On a Sunday afternoon....since they've just been wasting away in the corner of my sewing room for the past 5 months, I decided to shake the dust off my blocks, and see if I could remember how this puzzle fit together. It was a little confusing at first, so then I had to go get my sketch to decide which block went where. This is just a small part of what will hopefully, someday, be Michael's JD Graduation Quilt!
The Block Arcade
We quickly discovered that "arcade" in Australia has a very different definition than in the U.S. Australian Arcades are shopping malls. Those we visited, such as this one near our hotel in Melbourne, are elegant and include incredibly fine restaurants. This one was built in 1891.
Of course the most interesting thing in the yard is parked behind the radio tower and fuel tanks. BNSF 2854 is ex-ATSF 3640 and looks pretty good for having not been painted in over 25 years.

The famous statue of William Penn atop City Hall.
There is a very interesting story attached to this one, called the 'curse of Billy Penn'. Wiki says,
The Curse of Billy Penn was an alleged curse used to explain the failure of major professional sports teams based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to win championships since the March 1987 construction of the One Liberty Place skyscraper, which exceeded the height of William Penn's statue atop Philadelphia City Hall.
The curse apparently ended on October 29, 2008, when the Philadelphia Phillies won the 2008 World Series, a year and four months after a statuette of the William Penn figure atop City Hall was affixed to the final beam during the June 2007 topping-off of the Comcast Center, currently the tallest building in the city.
Mr. Penn surely doesn't like being blocked!
Block 16 as shown here, was located in Auschwitz-1 and housed close to 1,000 Jews, Gypsies, Romas, Gays and others who were considered 'Political Prisoners' of the Nazi regime. It is estimated that in total, over 1.3 Million people died at the hands of the Nazis here at Auschwitz which is located in Southern Poland.
First block, 2nd version. I took the block apart because I did not like the fabric I had used on the + and switched to the turquoise scissor fabric. Much better These are going to be very addicting!
I loved making the x and + block for Megan's month in the Sew Beautiful Bee so I decided to make five more for the ladies in my hive of the 4x5 bee, 3rd quarter. LOVE how they turned out!

Gridley J.F. Bryant, Architect
From the National Register ot Historic Inventory Nomination Form
:Historic Resources of Downtown Salem" :
"The growing sophistication of the social environment of Salem was reflected in the increased use of masonry construction, overcoming the 18th century preference for wood. Gridley J. F. Bryant's Naumkeag Block (HP-81; Area C), at the corner of Essex and Central Streets, is locally unique in its expression of a pilastered facade in brick."
