It's kind of crazy to think that this little box has been the birth place to many Eastern Bluebirds now. I used it as a subject while testing my Polaroid Pronto Sonar conversion to i-Type film the other day. That just made me stop and think about how interesting it is to have a successful bird house or two.

A shaky, hand-held video of a male mountain bluebird that is bringing food to it's brood. I've been told by a bluebird expert that the wing flashes are used to signal something to its mate. Whether that is every time it raises a wing or not, I don't know, but this one seems to have lots to say.
Although this link is for a different bluebird species, there are similarities: HP@#LocalAccount01
I made some bird boxes as a project (winter just gone). To my delight a pair of Blue Tits are nesting in one box. You can here the chicks chirping now :)
The comb has gone (eaten?) and they're back to keeping watch and patrolling around. The one at the bottom here is SO BIG! (side note: I'm really impressed with the camera on this phone!)
Eastern Bluebirds with eggs inside this birdbox. I have stayed away so don't know how many are in there or even if they've hatched yet. Mom and Dad have been very busy, though.
Take Aim: Backyard Challenge
There's not much happening at the moment, so to keep things ticking over here's a hornet from the bird box nests at Ham Wall back along.
i like the idea of having a mussenhotel on the mussengang ...
mussengang means sparrow-way/-alley, and also is the namesake of a comic strip series that exemplified student life in groningen. look it up!

Thanks so much for all the support! I really do appreciate it! 😊
They've taken over the little birdbox and it's literally a hive of bee activity now!
edit: Wow, I'm overwhelmed that this little picture of bees making a home has become one of my most popular pictures on here! Thank you :)
Update: they have made a comb inside the bird box now, visible from outside!
Today the Hereios of the We’re Here! Group are out doing a survey of local fairies with members of the Fairy House Club.
Taken through the window in the bird box while we ate our lunch, I like how you get half colour, half shade in the middle of the shot.
A new family in our garden. You can hear the youngsters chirping away when mum or dad come back with a juicy treat
A sycamore tree - Acer pseudoplatanus
(Interestingly the term "Sycamore" refers to a totally different tree in North America (what we call a Plane tree in UK/Ireland)
I used to think of the Sycamores as exotic weeds but if all the Ash trees die (due to Chalara) this will be all we have locally - so time to start loving them. They are great bee forrage trees in the spring.
Wandering around the woods I spotted a number of bird houses high up in the Birches. Took a while to find number 3, but it had to be done
As seen in the grounds of National Trust property Batemans, this afternoon. The sun was really bright and gave this hazy look.
I sat watching patiently as a pair of blue tits flew in and out out of our bird box and managed to get the shot I wanted in one click (after discarding quite a few).
A northern flicker perches on an eastern bluebird nest box in Gladys, VA.
On a different note, it's hard to keep up with Flickr postings at this time of year; spring is so full of photography opportunities that I quickly run up a backlog.

Last year Chickadees had a brood in there first. The Bluebirds have first dibs this year. The nest box is now lined by peat moss. The moss creates its own heat so Bluebirds guard the nest but don't sit on the eggs. They do become very active when it comes time to start feeding the youngsters.
Seen on a houseboat at Woodbridge in Suffolk, this birdbox has a Woodwose theme.
Woodwose, wildmen-of-the-woods, are believed to date from around the 15th. century and can be found carved in the churches of Norfolk and Suffolk, most commonly on pew ends.
Most visitors to these churches are completely unaware of the Woodwoses hidden within, and their significance in East Anglian folklore.
I've told you the hole isn't big enough for us two!!
No way are we moving into this old box.
