We were happy to see this year's new resident moving in to one of our nest boxes. She was very busy collecting nesting material.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.
This Blue Tit was searching for insects on one of our bird boxes today.

In the Bird box that has been in my garden for 7 years, this year we have a family of Great Tits of which one of the parents are feeding the brood.
This is one of the newly fledged Blue Tits from the nest box in our garden. It decided to explore my apple tree - the Golden Delicious apple tree that I grew from a pip that I planted nine years ago.

Nachdem ich das Bild hochgeladen hatte, war Pumba, unsere Katze offensichtlich beleidigt.
Ja, sie verweigerte sogar ihre Nahrungsaufnahme. Sie hielt immerhin fünf Minuten durch.
After I uploaded the picture, Pumba our cat was obviously offended.
Yes, she even refused to eat. After all, she kept up this for five minutes.
I often think that the poor birds that live in this birdbox in Beecraigs Country Park dont get much of a lie-in, in the morning!!
Male Eastern Bluebird on a frosty morning. I went outside to count birds for the Great Backyard Bird Count and a couple of courting bluebirds stopped by to check out real estate. BTW - there's still time to enter the GBBC. Morgan County, Alabama - February 19, 2022.
1. The baby birds must ceaselessly be fed. Here the food delivery arrives at full speed and with heavy breaking....

Built in 1811, Low Horcum Farm was last inhabited by humans in 1966 and fell into a state of near ruin. It underwent some renovation in 1986. However, over the next 20 years or so, weather and lack of further work meant that the building was in danger of falling down.
In 2008, ranger David Smith came up with an idea of saving this historic building and working with its structure to potentially attract wildlife, in particular, bats, swallows and barn owls.
Mother Wren - a very attentive parent! Actually, I suppose it could be Father Wren....? How does one tell? Either way, it's not very sharp, but I just had to try...
A slight turn of the weather has delayed the nesting activities of this male mountain bluebird and its mate. Lots of snow fell overnight and throughout the morning. Other than not focusing on nest building, the bluebirds were rather stoic, perching in the open on branches, posts, and, in this case, a nest box.
This is actually not a mountain bluebird parlor trick, but rather it appears to be an invitation to engage in the annual spring ritual of avian reproduction. The male landed on the nest box, seemed to signal with one wing, then did this hop and raised its wing. The female immediately came over and landed on the nest box and things progressed from there. And quickly. The elapsed time from when he landed to the time the marriage was fully consummated was two to three seconds.
I wish I had a good stream of images to show the full sequence, but I wasn't looking through the viewfinder or focusing (camera on a tripod). I just saw the bird approach the box, hit the shutter, and hoped something turned out.
Not sure the birds will be keen on the colourfulness, but it was gift from from a grandchild, and therefore has pride of place!

These Blue Tits have decided to nest in the box I made for them in our garden. It is the second year running a pair have used it.
It was taken through our window on a wet, damp day, but it was lovely to see them!
