Na een zwarte SBB Vectron was TX Logistik de laatste trein die bij Im Bächergrund gefotografeerd kon worden.
Recent heeft Akiem een aantal 189'ers overgenomen waarvan TX Logistik er dan weer een aantal huurt. Helaas zijn nog niet alle 189'ers voorzien van een nieuw jasje en dat zorgde voor wat frustratie in de ochtend van 3 mei 2023.
De van Akiem gehuurde 189 102 en 189 112, beide gewassen maar slechts één voorzien van de Akiem grijze kleur, kwamen op 3 mei 2023 langs Im Bächergrund met trein 41033 uit Duisburg Ruhrort Hafen naar Milaan.

Der Rieseneisvogel (Megaceryle maxima) ist der größte Eisvogel Afrikas, wo er ein heimischer Brutvogel ist.
Die Brut findet zwischen September und Januar statt. Das Nest ist ein langer horizontaler Tunnel, den beide Geschlechter mit ihren Füßen und Schnäbeln in ein Flussufer graben. Das Eingangsloch ist 11 cm hoch und 15 cm breit. Die Länge des Tunnels beträgt in der Regel 2 m, es wurde aber auch schon ein Tunnel von 8,5 m Länge gefunden. Ein Gelege von etwa drei Eiern wird in einer Kammer am Ende des Tunnels gelegt.
Diese große Art ernährt sich von Krabben, Fischen und Fröschen, die sie durch Tauchen von einem Ansitz aus fängt.

The giant kingfisher (Megaceryle maxima) is the largest kingfisher in Africa, where it is a resident breeding bird.
Breeding takes place between September and January. The nest is a long horizontal tunnel that is excavated into a river bank by both sexes using their feet and bills. The entrance hole is 11 cm high and 15 cm wide. The tunnel is typically 2m in length but a tunnel of 8.5m has been recorded. A clutch of around three eggs is laid in a chamber at the end of the tunnel.

There are disadvantages to having trees right in front of your window. In my case it is a plum tree and a cherry tree and both are quite old.
Being able to snap photos of these cute blue tits (and not just them) right out of the bathroom window is definitely not one of them.
I'm already looking forward to the trees blooming. I'll probably spend a lot of time here at this window.
Es hat schon auch Nachteile, wenn man Bäume unmittelbar vor seinem Fenster stehen hat. In meinem Fall sind es ein Pflaumen- und ein Kirschbaum und beide sind schon recht alt.
Die Möglichkeit direkt aus dem Badezimmerfenster Fotos von diesen süßen Blaumeisen (und nicht nur denen) zu machen gehört definitiv nicht das zu.
Ich freue mich jetzt schon darauf, wenn die Bäume blühen. Da werde ich wahrscheinlich viel Zeit hier an dem Fenster verbringen.

Exact een week na onze daguitstap richting Rhein en Moezel, had ondergetekende een volgende recupdag. Technisch gezien was vandaag eigenlijk onze reservedag voor de fotodag van verleden week.
Reeds een aantal jaren spreek ik namelijk twee dagen af met mijn broer, waardoor we in het geval van slecht weer op één van de twee dagen, makkelijk kunnen uitwijken naar de andere.
Gedurende de mooie droge periode die er nu weersgewijs is, is het dan natuurlijk mooi meegenomen om beide dagen erop uit te trekken, al zou het vandaag zeker geen fotodag van 's morgens tot 's avonds zijn.
Hoofddoel was een foto van de European Sleeper, die sinds eind mei Berlijn via Amsterdam met Brussel verbindt gedurende de nacht. Een lovenswaardig initiatief vind ik dat, en ik hoop dan ook dat European Sleeper de rest van zijn plannen kan waarmaken in de nabije toekomst, namelijk een dagelijkse rit, verlenging naar Praag en wie weet ooit extra nachttreinen op Belgische sporen.
Ondanks het feit dat ik hier op de brug van het afrittencomplex in Zemst samen met mijn broer Wouter stond, waren we op verschillende manieren naar hier gekomen: ik met de auto, de files trotserend en met reeds een kort bezoek aan Boortmeerbeek achter de rug, mijn broer Wouter met de trein en de benenwagen.
Samen konden we hier eerst een 20-minuten te laat rijdende Beneluxtrein, een Thalys in Ruby-kleurstelling en dan deze leuke nachttrein op foto zetten. We besloten na het nemen van deze foto, ook nog even ons geluk te gaan proberen op een aantal andere fotopunten: geslaags in Boortmeerbeek, iets minder geslaagd in Rotselaar... Enfin, waarschijnlijk volgen er ooit wel nog foto's van de andere treinen die we deze dag zagen ;-)

Just one week after our day excursion to the Rhine and Mosel, I was once again en route to take some pictures of trains.
Today a decent photo of the European Sleeper was the objective and so I could be found, together with my brother Wouter, near to the entrances and exits of the E19 at Zemst, where a new line was built during the beginning of this century in the median strip of the autoroute.
The European Sleeper was due to pass here (today, the times differ quite often) a little bit after 10 o'clock in the morning and so we got him as third train (after a delayed Benelux and a Thalys train) at this location!

Bij de overweg in de Nijkerkerweg bij industrieterrein Harselaar komt regelmatig een kruising van twee Intercity treinen voor. Deze keer had ik echter geluk dat beide treinen met ICMm EMU reden en elkaar zodanig kruisten dat ik ze naast elkaar kon fotograferen ;)
NSR ICMm EMU 4055 komt langs Harselaar-West op weg naar Apeldoorn als intercity 1735 van Den Haag CS naar Enschede en kruist met NSR ICMm EMU's 4075 + 4239 op weg naar Amersfoort als intercity 1734 van Enschede naar Den Haag CS.

At the level crossing in the Nijkerkerweg near Industrial Area Harselaar is every half hour a chance to see a crossing of two Intercity trains. This time i was very lucky that both trains were serviced by ICMm EMU and crossed at a point that i was able to photograph them next to each other.
NSR ICMm EMU 4055 passes Harselaar-West on its way to Apeldoorn servicing intercity 1735 Den Haag CS to Enschede and is crossing with NSR ICMm EMU's 4075 + 4239 on its way to Amersfoort servicing intercity 1734 Enschede to Den Haag CS.

I want to tell you the story of this photo.
When we were out in the canyon in the morning, this group of riders came towards us. We cleared the way and stood a little higher to the side. I was on par with the tour guide who stopped and we had a nice chat.
I told him that we had done this tour 31 years ago and that my horse was called Half Pint. He knew the horse and told me that it had received a well-deserved retirement on a farm later. I couldn't answer the question of what my tour guides name was back then, so we both laughed heartily about it.
Ich will euch die Geschichte dieses Fotos erzählen.
Als wir morgens im Canyon unterwegs waren kam uns diese
Gruppe Reiter entgegen. Wir machten den Weg frei und stellten uns etwas höher an die Seite. Ich war auf Augenhöhe mit dem Tour Guide, der stoppte und wir hatten ein nettes Gespräch.
Ich sagte ihm, dass wir diese Tour 31 Jahre zuvor einmal gemacht hätten und das mein Pferd Half Pint hieß. Er kannte das Pferd und sagte mir das es einen verdienten Ruhestand auf einer Farm erhalten hatte.
Die Frage wie mein Tour Guide damals hieß konnte ich nicht beantworten, so wir lachten beide herzlich darüber.

Op 3 mei 2006 reed loc 189 069 met een gemengde goederentrein naar Seddin door Genshagener Heide. Inmiddels is deze halte al lang gesloten en is de loopbrug afgebroken.
Am 3. Mai 2006 fuhr die 189 069 durch Genshagener Heide gen Seddin. Damals hielten auch noch Regionalbahn Züge am Bahnsteig und gab es eine Brücke für die Fußgänger. Beides sind mittlerweile schon Vergangenheit...
DB engine 189 069 was spotted on May 3rd 2006 in Genshagen Heide while hauling a freight train to Seddin. Back in 2006, passenger trains still called on this station and people could use the foot bridge over the tracks. Both is no longer the case as the station is not in use anymore and the bridge has been demolished ...
Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia) ♂️

The name "Silver-washed Fritillary" comes from the distinctive silver streaks on the underside of its wings. These streaks are a prominent feature of this large, orange butterfly, making it easily identifiable.
The term "Fritillary" refers to a group of butterflies known for their checkered or spotted patterns, which are also found on the wings of this species.
The scientific name "Paphia" is derived from Aphrodite Paphia, a name for the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. The name "paphia" is another of Aphrodite's nicknames.
The Buff-tailed Bumblebee is one of the most common bumblebees in this country.
The name Buff-tailed Bumblebee says it all. They prefer to build their nests underground, for example, in abandoned mouse nests. Yes, and "Bumblebee" probably comes from the Germanic word "humm," which means "to hum" or "buzz," and that's what the Bumblebee does.

Kaisermantel oder Silberstreif?
Beides, denn dieser Falter verdankt den Namen Silberstreif den zwei kurzen und einem langen silbrigen Streifen auf den Unterseiten seiner moosgrünen Hinterflügel, die an eine königliche Bekleidung erinnert.
Und da sind wir schon beim Namen Kaisermantel.
Dieser leitet sich außerdem von seiner majestätischen Erscheinung und dem als mantelartig beschriebenen Flügelmuster ab.
Sein lateinischer Name ist inspiriert von Aphrodite, der Liebesgöttin und bedeutet "glänzend" oder "silbern". Der Name "paphia" ist ein weiterer Beiname Aphrodites.
Die Erdhummel gehört zu den häufigsten Hummeln hierzulande.
Der Name Erdhummel ist Programm. Denn sie bauen ihre Nester bevorzugt unterirdisch, z. B. in verlassenen Mäusenestern. Ja und "Hummel" leitet sich wahrscheinlich von dem germanischen Wort "humm" ab, das "brummen" oder "summen" bedeutet und das tut sie ja, die Hummel.

The small town Heimbach in the breathtakingly beautiful Eifel region in Germany is a real tourist town. For example, in the previous upload I showed a glimpse of the castle here. The town is also highly recommended because of the greenery, the river and the typical German houses. In addition, the whole town is completely surrounded by forest, impressive hills, mountains and the accompanying rock walls. There are several hiking trails and it is even part of the Eifel National Park. A train ride from Düren to Heimbach is highly recommended and you will be amazed when you pass the nearby towns and then arrive at the end point Heimbach. A holiday feeling creeps up on you right away while you enjoy the view. A trip in which you visit both Belgium and the Netherlands in combination with the surroundings of Heimbach is perfectly doable by train as well as by car due to the favorable location of the town in relation to both countries. Over time I will post more pictures of this beautiful place here.

Het kleine stadje Heimbach in de adembenemend mooie Eifel regio in Duitsland is een echte toeristenplaats. In de vorige upload liet ik hier bijvoorbeeld al een glimp van het historische kasteel daar zien. Het stadje is ook een echte aanrader vanwege het groen, de rivier en de typisch Duitse huizen. Daarnaast is het hele stadje volledig omringd door bos, indrukwekkende heuvels, bergen en de daarbij behorende rotswanden. Er zijn verschillende wandelroutes en het maakt zelfs deel uit van het uitgestrekte Nationaal Park Eifel. Een treinrit van Düren naar Heimbach is bovendien een echte aanrader en je zult versteld staan als je de nabijgelegen stadjes en dorpjes passeert. Een combinatiereis waarbij je zowel België als Nederland bezoekt in combinatie met de omgeving van Heimbach is zowel met de trein als met de auto prima te doen door de gunstige ligging van het pittoreske stadje ten opzichte van beide buurlanden. In de loop van de tijd zal ik hier nog meer foto's van dit stadje plaatsen.

Well, it's not entirely true. Yesterday when I made dinner there was salmon for both of us. Only today, yes, I still had a portion all to myself ;-) But yesterday I thought of this song from our youth again – and found it perfect for today's topic. So quick – cut a mini slice and put it in the freezer ... With a toothpick you usually quickly pick the best pieces from the buffet. Yesterday we didn't eat with a toothpick but with a knife and fork ... Bon appetit!

Naja, so ganz stimmt es nicht. Gestern, als ich das Abendessen gemacht habe, gab es Lachs für uns beide. Nur heute, ja, da hatte ich noch eine Portion ganz für mich allein ;-) Gestern habe ich aber mal wieder an diesen Song aus unserer Jugend gedacht – und fand es perfekt für das heutige Thema. Also flucks – einen Mini-Streifen abgeschnitten und ab in die Gefriertruhe ... Mit einem Zahnstocher pickt man sich bekanntlich schnell mal die besten Stücke vom Buffet. Wir haben gestern nicht mit Zahnstocher, sondern mit Messer und Gabel essen können ... Guten Appetit!

Seit ich das erste Mal Künstlerpuppen sah, war ich restlos begeistert und wusste, irgendwann einmal möchte ich so eine Puppe haben ❣️
Nachdem ich inzwischen im Puppenoma-Alter bin, sind Luis und Bärbel auch meine Enkel. Beide stammen von der Puppenkünstlerin Monika Peter-Leicht. Ich ahnte auch nicht, dass mir das Fotografieren der beiden zum Hobby wird. Mir zaubern sie jeden Tag ein Lächeln aufs Gesicht und ich hoffe, das gelingt ihnen auch heute bei Euch für Smile on Saturday ❣️

when beauty and aesthetics meet in a festive setting, they are moments of light ... where even for me as an admirer of architecture must admit that it can never compete with the living world ...
and then this young attractive lady turned around and started a game with the photographer, posing ... and the fascinating thing was that it remained her secret whether it was fun or serious, she was able to mix both in a wonderful way and showed an always cheerful person ... who definitely recognized the "seriousness" of the situation ...
at the end we looked at the results together with her friend and she quite straightforwardly took my cell phone and deleted the shots that seemed to her not successful ... much remained and maybe ... and maybe I'll show one or the other ::))) ...
she then quickly lost interest and devoted herself to all the beautiful things that the party still offered, fully aware of her effect but yet so natural ...

wenn sich Schönheit und Ästhetik im festlichen Rahmen trifft, dann sind das Lichtmomente ... wobei selbst für mich als Verehrer der Architektur zugeben muss, dass sie sich niemals mit der lebenden Welt messen kann ...
und dann drehte sich diese junge, attraktive Dame um und begann ein Spiel mit dem Fotografen, poste ... und das faszinierende war, das es ihr Geheimnis blieb, ob es Spaß oder Ernst war, sie konnte auf wunderbare Weise beides vermischen und zeigte einen immer fröhlichen Menschen ... der den "Ernst" der Lage durchaus erkannte ...
am Ende schauten wir uns die Ergebnisse zusammen mit ihrer Freundin an und sie nahm ganz unkompliziert mein Handy und löschte die Aufnahmen, die ihr nicht gelungen schienen ... es blieben viele übrig und vielleicht ... und vielleicht zeige ich noch die eine oder andere :::))) ...
sie verlor dann schnell das Interesse und widmete sich all den schönen Dingen, die das Fest noch bot, sich voll ihrer Wirkung bewusst aber doch so natürlich ...

Ein Foto vorher habe ich das obere Bild hier einzeln reingestellt. Mir gefielen aber beide Fotos die ich kurz hintereinander gemacht habe so gut, dass es collagen werden musste. Warum das eine eher orange und das andere eher pink ist, weiß ich allerdings nicht.

DE klassieker in Berlijn is natuurlijk de blik op station Jannowitzbrücke en de TV-toren. Op 15 augustus 2010 stond ik maar weer eens hier met het doel de Eurocity 45 naar Warschau te fotograferen. De rondvaartboot kwam precies juist (iets wat niet vanzelfsprekend is, vaak is een boot net iets te vroeg - hier paste het gelukkig).
DER Klassiker schlechthin in Berlin ist natürlich der Blick auf die Jannowitzbrücke und den Fernsehturm.
Am 15. August 2010 wollte ich den Zug nach Warschau (EC 45) mit PKP Husarz fotografieren. Das Boot kam genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt und es gab keine störende S-Bahn (beides sind leider nicht immer selbstverständlich an dieser Stelle).
An absolute classic in Berlin is the view of the S-bahn station with the 368 meter (or 1.266 ft) high tv-tower in the background.
On August 15th 2010 I was here cause I wanted to make a picture of a Polish class 183 engine with Eurocity 45 to Warsaw. The boat came exactly at the right time (which is obviously not a given) and there were no annoying S-Bahn trains in the background either :-)
Am 16. August 2022 kamen beide Pünktchen-111 von smart rail vor dem leeren Autotransportzug DGS 47690 zwischen Freilassing und Sindelfingen zum Einsatz. Es führte die 111 223, die ich im Gegensatz zur bereits oft fotografierten und an zweiter Stelle befindlichen 111 057 das erste Mal dokumentieren konnte. Der bekannte Außenbogen bei Rann mit den Chiemgauer Alpen im Hintergrund bildete den motivlichen Rahmen.
On 16 August 2023, both smart rail's "dotty" 111s were used in front of the empty car transport train DGS 47690 between Freilassing and Sindelfingen. It was led by 111 223, which I was able to document for the first time in contrast to 111 057, which had already been photographed many times by me and was this time in second place. The well-known outer curve at Rann with the Alps in the background served as the motif.
EN: Railways to the Rigi, a mountain in central Switzerland, have a long tradition. A track connection exists only at one point in one direction.

DE: Die Bahnen auf die Rigi, einem Zentralschweizer Berg, haben eine lange Tradition. Während die Bahn aus Vitznau 1871 als erste Bergbahn Europas in Betrieb ging, wurde die 1875 eröffnete Bahn aus Goldau 1907 als erste normalspurige Zahnradbahn der Welt vollständig auf elektrischen Betrieb umgerüstet. Erst im Jahr 1992 fusionierten die beiden Konkurrenten und vermarkten das Ausflugsziel nun unter einem gemeinsamen Namen. Traditionell blieben aber die beiden Bahnen ihren Farben treu. Die blauen Züge fahren nach Arth-Goldau, die roten nach Vitznau. Auf dem obersten Abschnitt zwischen Rigi Staffel und Rigi Kulm sind nach wie vor beide Gleise separiert vorhanden und werden jeweils getrennt voneinander genutzt. Es gibt ein paar Dinge, die ich mir beim fotografieren von Vögeln angewöhnt habe. Eines davon ist, dass ich versuche jeden Vogel, der an mir vorbeiflattert zu fotografieren wenn ich ihn nicht 100% erkenne und dann bewusst ausschließe. Mir war nämlich aufgefallen, dass unter den vielen "Spatzen", die ich nicht unbedingt eines Bildes für würdig befunden hatte immer wieder Vögel dabei sind, die eben keine Spatzen sind. Diese Mönchsgrasmücke ist so ein Fall, die hätte ich ohne meine Verhaltensänderung völlig verpasst und wüsste jetzt nicht einmal, dass es bei uns Mönchsgrasmücken gibt. Identifizieren konnte ich sie erst mit dem Foto. Ob es ein Weibchen oder ein Jungvogel ist kann ich nicht sagen, beide haben im Gegensatz zum ausgewachsenen Männchen eine rötlich-braune Kappe. Leider war sie sehr schüchtern, ich bin nur auf mehr als 10m an sie herangekommen. Was man auf dem Foto nicht sieht ist, dass Mönchsgrasmücken wunderschön singen.
Tech. Detail: Das Licht in der Hecke war lausig, mit einer 1/200s und Blende 6.3 bin ich bei ISO 3200 gelandet. Das hat gerade so gereicht um Oberkörper der Grasmücke einzufrieren, ein Füßchen bewegt sich schon zu schnell und ist unscharf. Ohne den Bildstabilisator im Objektiv wäre die (freihändige) Aufnahme aber wohl gar nichts geworden. Ich konnte vier Bilder machen, zwei davon waren scharf bzw. nicht verwackelt.
Um die Grasmücke in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen euch viele Details verloren.
There are a few things where I adapted over time when photographing birds. One of those adaptations is that I try to photograph every bird that flutters past me if I don't recognize it 100%. I had noticed that among the many "sparrows" which I hadn't necessarily found worthy of a picture, there were sometimes birds that actually weren't sparrows. This blackcap is such a case, I would have completely missed it if I hadn't changed my behavior and I wouldn't even know that we have Blackcaps in our area. I cannot say whether it is a female or a young bird, both have the reddish-brown cap in contrast to the adult male that has a black cap. Unfortunately it was very shy, I could only get close to 10+m from it. What you don't see in the photo is that Blackcaps sing beautifully.
Tech detail: The light was lousy again, with a shutterspeed of 1/200s and an aperture of 6.3 I ended up at ISO 3200. That was just fast enough to fix the Blackcap's upper body, one foot is already moving too fast and is blurred. Without the image stabilizer in the lens, this (hands-free) shot would probably not have been possible at all. I got four shots of which two where in focus / not blurred.

Op 4 augustus had ik het plan om beide NightJet's in Oberhausen HBF te fotograferen. De eerste uit Zürich was 45 minuten vertraagd en was beter voor het licht, maar uiteraard had ik een kruising.....Met de tweede, die helaas wel saaier is van samenstelling, ging het wel goed. Getrokken door de 193 759 rijdt de NightJet uit Wenen en Innsbrück door Oberhausen HBF onderweg naar Amsterdam.
Ein seltenes Bild im Hamburger Hafen ... kein Schiff unter den Containerbrücken am Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) der Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA). Im Vordergrund die beiden HHLA Schwimmkräne HHLA III und HHLA IV. Beide verfügen über einen eigenen Antrieb. Die zwei Schwimmkräne der HHLA kümmern sich um Projektladung und Schwergut, und dies nicht nur im Hamburger Hafen, wo die Schwimmkräne in kürzester Zeit überall verfügbar sind. Auf der gesamten Unterelbe bis Brunsbüttel treten die Schwimmkräne in Aktion, wenn die Verladung der Objekte aufgrund ihrer Größe oder ihres Gewichts nicht mit Containerbrücken oder anderen landseitigen Geräten durchgeführt werden kann. Einzeln können die Kräne Lasten von 100 bzw. 200 Tonnen heben und auch auf dem Wasser transportieren.

A rare picture in the port of Hamburg ... not a ship under the container gantries at the Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA). In the foreground are the two HHLA floating cranes HHLA III and HHLA IV. Both have their own drive. HHLA's two floating cranes take care of project cargo and heavy lift, and not only in the Port of Hamburg, where the floating cranes are available everywhere in a very short time. The floating cranes go into action along the entire Lower Elbe up to Brunsbüttel if the objects cannot be loaded with container gantries or other land-based equipment due to their size or weight. Individually, the cranes can lift loads of 100 or 200 tons and also transport them on water.

The Citadel of Saint-Florent....
built in the 15th century, after the foundation of the city in 1440, has not ceased to evolve to this day.
Composed of a high primitive tower, with its cistern, a lower enclosure built in the 18th century, equipped with two turrets and a square tower, the building originally had artillery terraces.
It was subjected to the jolts of history, including the siege from December 1553 to February 1554, when it was subdued by hunger. From 1824, the building was used as housing for the garrisons until 1939.
Acquired by the municipality in 1986, classified as a historical monument in 1994, the Citadel hosts art exhibitions every summer.

Tussen de beide getrokken IR'n door werd er ri Pontresina gereden voor de G 5135 van Landquart naar Pontresina. Deze goederentrein is een vaste dienst van de Ge 6/6 II. De fraaie, nog van " Altlampen" voorziene RhB 706 "Disentis/Muster" had met een korte sleep ketels haar eindbestemming Pontresina bijna bereikt. Aan de ketels in deze treinverbinding is te zien dat de winter alweer nadert.

Ursprünglich befand sich am Hafenbecken ein einzelner Wippkran zum Be- und Entladen der Schiffe. Dieser Wippkran blieb nicht erhalten. Stellvertretend wurden 1989 zwei baugleiche Krane von ihrem Ursprungsstandort am Lübecker Ufer an den Altonaer Holzhafen gebracht.
Hier befindet sich die ehemalige Seemannsmission, heute ein Hotel. Ebenfalls die urigen Hafenkneipen Haifischbar und Schellfischposten, beide bekannt aus Rundfunk- und Fernsehsendungen.

The wooden harbor was built between 1722 and 1724 and is considered the oldest surviving artificial harbor in Hamburg.
Originally there was a single luffing crane for loading and unloading the ships at the harbor basin. This luffing crane was not preserved. As a representative, in 1989 two identical cranes were brought from their original location on the Lübeck shore to the Altonaer Holzhafen.
Here is the former seaman's mission, now a hotel. Also the quaint harbor pubs Haifischbar and Schellfischposten, both known from radio and television programs.

Appenzell is a historic canton in the northeast of Switzerland, and entirely surrounded by the canton of St. Gallen.
Appenzell became independent of the Abbey of Saint Gall in 1403 and entered a league with the Old Swiss Confederacy in 1411, becoming a full member in 1513. It has been divided since into Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden since 1597 as a result of the Swiss Reformation.
The territory of Appenzell as a geographical entity is known as Appenzellerland while in political contexts, the two cantons (until 1999 half-cantons) are referred to as beide Appenzell ("both Appenzells").
The name Appenzell derives from Latin: abbatis cella ("cell (i.e. estate) of the abbot"). This refers to the Abbey of St. Gall, which exerted a great influence on the area. By the middle of the 11th century the abbots of St Gall had established their power in the land later called Appenzell, which by that time was thoroughly Alemannic.
By about 1360, conflicts over grazing rights, taxes, and tithes were causing concern for both the abbot and the farmers of Appenzell. Both parties wanted to protect their rights and interests by joining the new Swabian League. In 1377 Appenzell was allowed to join the League with the support of the cities of Konstanz and St. Gallen (the city of St. Gallen was often at odds with the neighboring Abbey of St. Gall). With the support of the League, Appenzell refused to pay many of the gifts and tithes that the Abbot Kuno von Stoffeln demanded. In response to the loss of revenue from his estates, Kuno approached the Austrian House of Habsburg for help. In 1392 he made an agreement with the Habsburgs, which was renewed in 1402. In response, in 1401 Appenzell entered into an alliance with the city of St. Gallen to protect their rights and freedom.

Seit dem 23. Juli 2020 sind die grünen Züge wieder täglich unterwegs. Am 26. Juli 2020 nutze ich das gute Wetter am Nachmittag um den mittags-Flixtrain gen Westen zu fotografieren (hier bei Schwanebeck als FLX 76340).
Back in business are the green Flixtrains between Berlin and Cologne. These trains paused (because of Covid-19) but have been running again since July 23rd. On July 26th 2020 the weather improved in the afternoon which enabled me to spot FLX76340 to Cologne near Schwanebeck...

Für sich betrachtet ein fast langweiliges Bild mit einem, zugegeben, schönen Bokeh, aus meiner eitlen Sicht 'ein Meisterwerk der Separation' aus der geradezu genial zu nennenden Zusammenarbeit zwischen Rata und seinem Biotar 😇
Wir haben gemeinsam auf das Licht gewartet, bestimmt eine halbe Stunde lang, was zugegebener Maßen eigentlich daran lag, daß es nieselte und wir beide nicht nass werden wollten 😎

Arrivati a Les Hauts-Geneveys in questa mattina di gennaio, solo un quadratino azzurro di cielo in mezzo alla nebbia lascia ben sperare. Con un po' di pazienza e fortuna, la nebbia si dirada e lascia spazio ad uno splendido paesaggio innevato. È così che nasce una splendida immagine invernale di una Re 465 ancora in vecchia livrea con una composizione EW III, ormai entrambi appartenenti al passato. Stanno effettuando un servizio IR66 da La Chaux-de-Fonds a Berna.
Als wir an diesem Januarmorgen in Les Hauts-Geneveys ankommen, gibt nur ein kleines blaues Loch am Himmel inmitten des Nebels Hoffnung. Mit etwas Geduld und Glück löst sich der Nebel auf und macht Platz für eine wunderschöne Schneelandschaft. So entsteht ein prächtiges Winterbild einer Re 465 noch in alter Lackierung mit einer EW III-Komposition, die beide der Vergangenheit angehören. Sie sichern einen IR66-Dienst von La Chaux-de-Fonds nach Bern.
Der Hammerkopf ist ein bis zu 56 cm großer Wasservogel. Weil seine näheren Verwandtschaftsverhältnisse ungeklärt sind, wird er meistens einer eigenen Familie zugeordnet.
Außergewöhnlich ist das Nest des Hammerkopfes. Es hat einen Durchmesser von 1,5 m, besteht aus bis zu 8000 Einzelteilen und erreicht das Hundertfache des Eigengewichts des Vogels. Beide Partner bauen es gemeinsam, für gewöhnlich in einem Baum. Zweige werden aufeinandergehäuft und mit Schlamm aneinandergeklebt. Zunächst bildet das Nest eine Plattform, dann werden die Wände errichtet und schließlich ein Kuppeldach über dem Nest. Der einzige Zugang zu dem riesigen Gebilde befindet sich auf der Unterseite.

The Hamerkop is a water bird up to 56 cm tall. Because its closer relationships are unclear, it is usually assigned to its own family.
The nest of the Hamerkop is unusual. It has a diameter of 1.5 metres, consists of up to 8,000 individual parts and is a hundred times the bird's own weight. Both partners build it together, usually in a tree. Branches are piled on top of each other and glued together with mud. Initially the nest forms a platform, then the walls are erected and finally a domed roof is built over the nest. The only access to the huge structure is on the underside.

Wieder eine super Ausstellung in Düsseldorf. Ich durfte manche der Ausstellungsräume als Erster betreten. Das waren spannende und beeindruckende Momente. Der Boden ist teilweiße glänzend schwarz. Die Spiegelungen wurden noch durch nichts getrübt ...

CD loc 151 014 stopte op 22 juli 2010 met trein R626 uit Vsetin te Ústí nad Orlicí. Door werkzaamheden was er slechts één spoor beschikbaar tussen Ústí en Brandy nad Orlicí. Dit had als gevolg dat er in één van de beide stations treinen verzameld werden om aansluitend achter elkaar te vertrekken. Per keer gingen er drie tot vier treinen zo per richting (goederenvervoer, regionale treinen, pendolino.. alles door elkaar).
Am sonnigen 22. Juli 2010 war ich in Ústí nad Orlicí und konnte u.a. die 151 014 fotografieren. Die Lok war mit R626 aus Vsetin nach Prag unterwegs und musste in Ústí warten bis die Strecke nach Brandys freigegeben worden war (aufgrund eingleisigkeit wurden mehrere Züge pro Richtung in Blockabstand gefahren).
On a warm and sunny July 22nd 2010, Czech engine 151 014 stopped briefly at Ústí nad Orlicí with train R 626 (Vsetin - Prague). Because of work being carried out on the tracks between Ústí nad Orlicí and Brandys nad Orlicí, there was only one-way-traffic possible. This meant "collecting" trains at one of the station and then sending three or four after one another in one direction. After these had arrived at the other station, three or four trains would run in the opposite direction...
Der Luftballon ist bestimmt aus Liebe gestartet, aber er ist dann in einem Gewässer gelandet und die Plastikschnur hat sich im Geäst verheddert.
So hübsch das auch aussieht und so lieb wie es gemeint ist, so ist beides, Ballon und Schnur, doch eine große Gefahr für Tiere. Deswegen würde ich mir wünschen, man würde keine Luftballons steigen lassen.

The balloon has certainly taken off out of love, but it has then landed in a body of water and the plastic cord has become tangled in the branches.
As pretty as it looks and as sweet as it is meant, both, balloon and string, are a great danger to animals. That is why I would like to see no balloons rise.
