Off and on for the past two weeks we have been hearing a sporadic pre-dawn squawk of a yellow-crowned night heron in the pine tree at the corner of our house; yet no heron could be found in the morning light. It's the season when we daily search the limbs looking for the whole colony that returns from the previous year to repair their nests and raise the next generation. (Some of you may remember them from last year's posts.) But where are the rest of them? Finally, this morning - the full chorus! So far I have counted 14! Because of their proximity in the yard, we can't avoid being entertained by each other. They do what birds do at this time of year and we laugh. I do what I do - perch on my ladder in contorting positions with my camera and they seem equally entertained. =))

Last week CSX's Spirit of Our Law Enforcement unit 3194 was running on Port Newark stacks for a few days. Here it is leading I168 through the curve at Ridgefield Park.
So this is yet another day of thunder, hail, lightening, wind and of course rain..this is my Hattie....cos she is so big...every says 'Back off Hattie' just to try and get control...

I didn't take to the MX and eventually sold it.
This beetle flittered into the house when I opened the door. He landed on the floor, I put my hand down there. He grabbed onto my finger until got him to the porch.

6x6 Bull Elk making its way across the flats of Grand Teton National Park. I could only watch his backside as he kept moving towards the river until he stopped for a second to look back to see that he wasn't being followed.

I managed to get a bargain Fuji macro lens during the Black Friday event in 2019, but have only just had a chance to use it. So i thought i'd start with some handheld shots first of an old typewriter, "The Good Companion", before moving on to some focus stacking.

I'm realizing that Heiress (right) likes starting disputes with the other alpacas. She began making noises in Anna's ear, then spit at her, for apparently no reason. I separated the two, and she then did the same to sweet Bambi, behind her in the shed. I gently told her, "No, Heiress," and she started in on Hazel before settling down. In the background, at left, Luna is picking over spilled cracked corn. I had given it to the alpacas to get them out of their shed, so I could clean the messy floor.
