Sunset at West Wharf Beach

West Wharf Beach, a small beach area behind a popular local hotel. More rocky than beachy, yet a popular draw with the locals. I think I have photographed this little patch of heaven the most in the last 10 years. High tide, low tide, rain or shine, it never fails to deliver. Depending on the time of day, it's usually a busy location, with the exception of the early morning when I have it all to myself, with few exceptions. Interesting rock faces, tidal pools, great lines and shapes, and a bonus—you can do both sunsets and sunrises from the same location. Tuxis Island is in close proximity and makes for a great early morning subject, and then there is Faulkner Island Light, which I try to incorporate in every shot for those who know the area. I decided to visit on this particular evening, not really sure how the weather would break. Luckily, there was drama in the sky that lasted well beyond the sun setting. The evening burn seemed to go on forever, as if stoked by an unseen hand. I made sure to milk it for every drop of evening goodness. A welcomed break from fall foliage hunting and well worth the gamble.

In the large glowing water droplet, you can see an upside down reflection of the Patterson House, the lawn and shadows of the trees in it. I never looked into the droplets before... well, I think you can see it in a lot of the other ones, too.

Every spring since many years I always take a photo of

this very tree. I think it´s a lime tree. I don´t know much about trees. So please correct me if I´m wrong.
