After a long drive in heavy rain and being diverted off our rout this was my first shot, we left our accommodation to go for a wander in the rain when this happened, I was totally unprepared for what happened in front of my lens, this came from nowhere so I took full advantage of it to carefully position myself behind the stream so as to get the light reflected off the water and let the light light up the grasses. Many more to come from this as the sky lit up . This is Croyde beach in North Devon where we spent a week and gave me many images

So, I had actually given up hope in finding a suitable location to shoot sunrise. my first pick was inside a cloud. washed out, so I went to a backup location that I just KNEW was perfect.... sun was rising behind me. Tried three other locations with similar results. I was defeated, so on my way back home from much further than I wanted to try I pulled over onto the shoulder of the road, and checked my sun tracker app one last time.... Low and behold there it was, with ten minutes to get set up before rise I pulled everything out and hoped the mist I was sitting in would clear enough for the sun to shine through. I wasn't disappointed, and I hope I managed to do it some justice as the light just exploded around me.

“A flower does not use words to announce its arrival to the world; it just blooms.” – Matshona Dhliwayo

Fighting to get out into the sunshine, each pod will hold 20 to 100 buds that will blossom; creating that gorgeous flower cluster.....

is not how one would generally think of the tundra in Alaska. But during the fall and with the Alaskan sun low in the sky, the tundra colors explode. It's nice the bears are there, too :-))

From a distance, the orange Yarrow flowers were a soft blur of warmth in the garden. Upon much closer examination, one could appreciate the fact that 15-40 tiny flowers were clustered together on a stalk.

Osprey. Just emerging from a dive into the ocean. This bird often catches fish by diving with its wings half closed and claws stretched forward, disappearing under the water in a great spray

carries its catch headfirst in flight, usually using both feet to hold the fish. Builds a nest that is an immense mass of dried branches, interwoven with materials such as stakes, rope, strips of old cloth, plastic, and even caribou antlers. They can live for 15 to 20 years, and one individual was known to survive to age 35. IMG_8997

Das war's dann mit dem diesjährigen Sommer. Viele Pflanzen haben ihre Aufgabe erfüllt und verabschieden sich mit einem Knall.

At some point every life cycle comes to an end. These plants did it.

This was one of those moments when I was just walking back to the car and suddenly the sun decided to stop me in my tracks by putting on this little light show. Unfortunately it was gone before I could take too many shots, but was quite pleased with this as a reminder!

My sun bursted like a star this evening

I had a blast on my hike today

Up to the top where my lake is and there she was waiting for me

All shining

And bursting

Not always easy to get the burst correct

Sometimes it spreads too much and gets all these colours

But this was the best

I was of course thrilled in all my joy of getting a tiny bit more knowledge about this lovely photo-hobby of mine
