A sunny day, but there was something in the air ...
Ein sonniger Tag, aber etwas lag in der Luft ...

Taken at the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty, Tsawwassen, BC, Canada, on February 9 2014. I had a great day birding throughout Delta and a bit of Surrey with Logan Lalonde (Chop_Merc). We saw so many great species (finished the day with over 70 species in total) and lots of year birds.

In the Finnish language we say that the earth is black if in wintertime there is no snow. Now, the earth is black here.
I dedicate this photo to Sati K. - my choice of treatment here was definitely inspired and influenced by her great work!

While we were up there contemplating the river, a monologue was developing:
So you know,
If you peed in the Green River in Green River,
it would flow past here.
If you peed in the Virgin River in Zion,
it would flow past here.
If you peed into the San Juan at the goosenecks,
it would flow right past here.
If you peed into the Gunnison at Black Canyon,
it would flow past here.
If you peed into Flaming Gorge,
it would flow past here.
If you peed into the Colorado in Rocky Mountain National Park
it would flow past here.
If you peed in the Yampa in Dinosaur National Monument,
it would flow past here.
If you peed into the Grand Canyon,
it would flow right past here.
People in Las Vegas might drink it first but then they'd pee too, and after they flushed it would flow through the wetlands,
and eventually right past here.
And while some of that pee might make it to the gulf, some would also make it all the way to the Imperial Valley and the Salton Sea, a seemingly impossible journey if it started all the way back in Flaming Gorge or Rocky Mountain.
Much of it would make it's way into fruits and vegetables that would show up in your supermarket and on your table so if your lemons smell funny you know why... somebody peed in a river in the west.
Moral of the story: don't pee in the water, it's ALL connected and it will come back to you eventually!

i wanted to show these are actually black petunias in real life. I also love the black and white image separate on its own.
These tiny birds are wonderful singers and if they would just stay still, I would make a whole photo series out of the little things.

black poison composition:
two dice sewing black ideas
Syrup abyss
a volume of powder-bone skeletons
two volumes of despair
dilution of bitterness
cold sweat
a final sigh
Taken on the Mall in Washington DC at AwesomeCon attempt to set an outdoor cosplay record in April 2014.
More black cats. These are old stuffed ones. The middle one is Steiff from the 1950's. The others are unknown, and look older than that...
I love the alternating pattern of stripes in black and mesh see through
