Ich bin in der letzten Woche an einem Autotransporter voller Mercedes-Benz G vorbei gefahren. Das hat mich dazu inspiriert, einige Bilder mit Hilfe von AI zu produzieren. Seht selbst, was daraus geworden ist .. 👊😎

In het autotransport is de afgelopen periode weer het nodige veranderd. De treinen die door HUSA werden gereden zijn overgenomen door Locon, terwijl de eerder door RTB gereden treinen met Ford Ka's waarschijnlijk werden overgenomen door TXL, aangezien het op 16 februari 2014 de helaas logoloze 189114 was die een trein met Ka's naar de Sloe bracht en hier in een lekker zonnetje passeert ter hoogte van Culemborg.
In 2015 werd onze taal - net als in ieder ander jaar - verrijkt met nieuwe woorden. ‘Sjoemelsoftware’ is zo’n woord. Het woord werd waarschijnlijk voor het eerst op 22 september 2015 door de media gebruikt, nadat bekend werd dat autofabrikant Volkswagen bij zo'n 11 miljoen auto's speciale software had ingebouwd om milieu-inspecteurs bij emissietesten om de tuin te leiden. De testresultaten voldeden aan de milieunormen terwijl bij normaal gebruik de resultaten slechter waren. Het woord is mogelijk afgeleid van het Duitse Schummel-Software dat al op 19 september 2015 door Bild werd gebruikt. Op 7 november 2015 werd het woord door het tijdschrift ‘Onze Taal’ als het woord van het jaar verkozen.
De rel rond de sjoemelsoftware had wonder boven wonder geen negatieve invloed op de verkoopcijfers van de Volkswagen-groep. Integendeel; in 2015 was Volkswagen het best verkochte automerk. Ook de verkoopcijfers van het tot het VW-concern behorende merk Audi lieten ten opzichte van het jaar daarvoor een flinke plus zien. Daarbij was december 2015 de drukste decembermaand ooit in de autoverkopen. De belangrijkste driver daarvoor was de per 1 januari 2016 verhoogde bijtellingspercentages voor leaseauto’s.
Op het spoor was het de laatste maanden van 2015 dan ook een drukte van belang met het transport van nieuwe auto’s, waarbij uiteraard ook de Volkswagen-groep geen reden tot klagen had. De aanvoertreinen met Volkswagen en Audi naar auto-importeur PON in Leusden waren de laatste maanden dan ook goed beladen, met vooral auto’s uit het duurdere segment. Vaak reed er een extra trein naar Leusden.
Op 30 december reed de laatste PON-trein van 2015. De trein werd vastgelegd in het Lockhorsterbos. Normaliter bestaat de lading uit diverse typen VW-personenauto’s en -busjes en natuurlijk de Audi’s. Vanwege de op dat moment op hand zijnde fiscale maatregelen ontbraken de busjes hier volledig. Ook naar een compacte auto als de VW-Up moest men tevergeefs zoeken. De lading bestond die dag uitsluitend uit auto’s uit het lease-segment, die nog voor 1 januari op kenteken gezet konden worden.
De trekkracht wordt geleverd door de ietwat op leeftijd zijnde locomotief van Strukton Railinfra Materieel B.V. De locomotief is in 1961 gebouwd door de firma Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz uit Köln en afgeleverd aan de Köln-Bonner Eisenbahnen. Tot 2004 heeft de locomotief in de regio Köln gereden, waarna hij aan Strukton is verkocht. Vanwege een tekort aan eigen rijvaardige locomotieven zag de vervoerder DB Schenker af van het stellen van eigen tractiemiddelen voor de trein, maar had hiervoor per 1 december 2015 Strukton ingehuurd.

Photographed in Fremont, CA, this is probably the VAH 600 sleeper cab model. Car carriers are the "lowriders" of the trucking industry. Their chassis are designed to be as low as possible so that they clear most overpasses when fully loaded with vehicles.
The final version of the SP trailer with 1960 Pontiacs. The hefty looking landing gear on these trailers runs on a track on the railroad flatcars. There's another set of small wheels under the rear of the trailer. Called "Clejan", I believe it was a French-designed system for Trailer on flatcar. This photo from SO Pacific.

Shot in Sept 1984, this is a load of Chryslers and AMC's (they were seperate then). Note four car "pup" trailer. Convoy used these in several states at that time. This is not experimental although permits may have been temporary.

Demstrup Scania fully dedicated to the sole task of hauling for Aalborg Portland (concrete), to such a degree, that the tractor completely deviates from the standard Demstrup livery to create a perfect match for the O.ME.P.S trailer.
Going down the steep hill leading northeast into Aarhus. The motorway ends by Åhavevej in Viby. From here, the trucks can continue straight on to Marselis Boulevard across Skanderborgvej before ending at the port of Aarhus, 6 km from here.

A different company than C&J Driveaway, C&J Transport was based at 600 E Erie ST Milwaukee, WI. In the warm months, they hauled GM cars that were shipped to WI by steam ship. When the lakes were closed, they had to interline with other carriers.

Another yellow Volvo FH from the Netherlands, this time a fully-fledged car transporter, which was travelling along the A1 autobahn. This particular truck was operated by Wolves Autotransport, based in the town of Wierden in eastern Netherland, outside the city of Almelo. The driver gave a flash of the lights and a toot of the horn as he drove passed, always cool to have that!
