Rather similar compared to version 1.0, but a major difference is the lack of a camera. If you want to film, put a GoPro on your head. Wearable devices like these are meant as contextual tools, to provide access to the (invisible) world of data surrounding us. No camera needed for that! My guess: the camera will become a miniature detachable add-on to be worn somewhere else on your body, inobtrusively.

Using FLAR (Flash Augmented Reality) I've managed to get 2 markers reacting to one another in 3D space, in real time. The opportunities for interactive 3D animations are amazing.

When I was a kid I loved Outrun. The arcade game made me feel I was driving a real car like. Nowadays I have a real car. But the rides aren't as exciting as the virtual experience back in the days. Thanks to augmented reality, I'm now able to combine the best of both worlds!

2003. Rixome aimed to design and provide simple authoring tools for a future augmented Internet.
Rixome was a concept, partially developed in 2004 with Macromedia Director, that aimed to build a new Internet extension into physical space before the augmented reality euphoria began around 2009.
I applied GPS and WIFI for build a simple authoring tool that allowed to write anywhere in a hybrid or augmented reality, avoiding any legal or physical limitations. The main objective was to start the building of an ambitious creative tool in the context of locative media, my personal brush, or at least something equivalent to what this is for an oil painter.
The idea was conceived in 2003 in the Master of Arts and New Technologies of the European University of Madrid, and the first version of the Rixome application was presented in June 2004. The web of the project was referenced by popular blogs like WMMNA, Engadget and Infosthetics, among others, receiving some emails from people interested in collaborate. During a year after graduating from the university, I presented it to around 12 calls for artworks in Spain, but unfortunately it didn’t get any funding…
These were the ideas, still valid, that moved me towards Rixome:
Nowadays we see how a city is not that social structure at the service of the citizens, but an aggressive auctioning area that mutilates any personal expression, a city-screen, instead of a city-interface.
With no rights for sharing any graphical or textual impression, the citizen must respect the advertising media that is handled by expert groups, and along with this, their messages. Advertising has exclusive rights over publication in the urban setting, and the streets are devoid of citizens creativity and thinking.
To this untouchable non-city, we purpose a city where you can leave your mark. The public space should also be a media space open for communication. We should reconsider the ductility of our streets and the publishing rights of their walls.
In the future we must avoid confusing a clean city with a city where there are no ways to civically declare our presence.

Rixome fue un concepto, desarrollado parcialmente en 2004 con Macromedia Director, que tenía por objeto construir una nueva extensión de Internet en el espacio físico antes de que la euforia por la realidad aumentada comenzara alrededor del año 2009.
Apliqué GPS y WIFI para construir una sencilla herramienta de edición que me permitía escribir en cualquier lugar en una realidad híbrida o aumentada, evitando cualquier limitación física o legal. El principal objetivo era iniciar la construcción de una ambiciosa herramienta creativa en el contexto del locative media, mi particular pincel, o al menos algo equivalente a lo que esto constituye para un pintor.
La idea fue concebida en el año 2003 en el Master de Arte y Nuevas Tecnologías de la Universidad Europea de Madrid, y la primera versión de la aplicación se presentó en junio de 2004. La web del proyecto fue referenciada por blogs populares como WMMNA, Engadget o infosthetics, entre otros, recibiendo algunos correos electrónicos de personas interesadas en colaborar. Un año después de graduarme en la universidad, presenté Rixome a alrededor de 12 convocatorias de arte en España, pero desafortunadamente no recibió ninguna financiación..
Estas eran las ideas, todavía en vigor, que me movieron a concebir Rixome:
Hoy en día vemos cómo una ciudad no es aquella estructura social al servicio de los ciudadanos, sino una agresiva área de subasta que mutila cualquier expresión personal, una ciudad-pantalla en lugar de una ciudad-interfaz.
Sin derechos para compartir cualquier impresión gráfica o textual, el ciudadano debe respetar la publicidad a cargo de grupos expertos, y de modo indirecto, sus mensajes. La publicidad tiene los derechos exclusivos de publicación en el entorno urbano, y las calles están desprovistas de las creatividad y el pensamiento de sus ciudadanos.
Ante esta intocable no-ciudad, proponemos una ciudad donde podamos dejar nuestra huella. El espacio público también debe ser un espacio abierto a la comunicación de todos. Debemos reconsiderar la ductilidad de nuestras calles y los derechos de publicación en sus paredes.
En el futuro debemos evitar confundir una ciudad limpia con una ciudad en la que no hay formas cívicas de declarar nuestra presencia.

The Casoria Contemporary Arts Museum hosted an exhibit and performance of REFF, RomaEuropa FakeFactory.
On show were the Augmented Reality Drug used by the REFF fake institution to promote a worldwide wave of reality reinvention for students, artists, cultural operators, activists and performers, the REFF map which shows all the events happening in the fake institution and all the works of the artists, architects, designers, hackers, activists and performers participating to REFF.
Doctor AR, the fake institution's augmented holistic health expert, explained to an audience in a state of beautiful amazement the benefits coming from the reinvention of reality through critical practices of worldwide, ubiquitous remix, mashup, re-enactment, plagiarism, turning the whole planet into an art performance.
The day at the Casoria Contemporary Arts Museum featured international projects such as Magmart Video Under Volcano, TOXIC Japanese Videoart, Focus Revolution and Glances Around Dump.

After clicking on the last overlay's blue arrow, the user is taken to the final screen, which in this case is the homepage of a web development company which is seemingly situated near my company's office.

Augmented reality is already making changes in many different industries.
Unfortunately, we do not see too much reliable, inexpensive and white-label solutions related to Health Care.
This our story:
The patient lies on the hospital bed, as the doctor passing by. He is wearing glasses that look like completely regular.
The doctor looking at the patient chest, examining her condition. The Heart Rate data, Skin Temperature, Respiratory Rate and RR interval appears on a computer monitor nearby patient, but this time there is no need to turn his head towards monitor, because he can see all data in front of his eyes. There is no reason to get close to the patient or his monitor, just look at the patient from the distance up to 15 meters and the data pop-up automatically.
It was a completely new challenge for Mircod Team to adapt all existing Mircod IoT modules and prototypes to be able to visualize data not only on any mobile devices, smart TV’s and on regular computers, but also to create a true, hands-free augmented reality solution. The final solution can project digital scenes with regard to Mircod ECG patches on what we see and prepare or alerts nurses and doctors on different biometric changes, patients portfolio, historical data etc….

This was an online application which 'augments' reality.
Essentially, you print out a black and white graphic which the computer can recognise, this is used to project a 3d image image.
In this case the image was of a solar panel array. This is my picture of the day for the 31st March, 2009.
Calibration of the compass seems necessary, although sometimes I get the "wave in a figure 8" message, and sometimes not.
