The Casoria Contemporary Arts Museum hosted an exhibit and performance of REFF, RomaEuropa FakeFactory.

On show were the Augmented Reality Drug used by the REFF fake institution to promote a worldwide wave of reality reinvention for students, artists, cultural operators, activists and performers, the REFF map which shows all the events happening in the fake institution and all the works of the artists, architects, designers, hackers, activists and performers participating to REFF.

Doctor AR, the fake institution's augmented holistic health expert, explained to an audience in a state of beautiful amazement the benefits coming from the reinvention of reality through critical practices of worldwide, ubiquitous remix, mashup, re-enactment, plagiarism, turning the whole planet into an art performance.

The day at the Casoria Contemporary Arts Museum featured international projects such as Magmart Video Under Volcano, TOXIC Japanese Videoart, Focus Revolution and Glances Around Dump.

Once the app has your position, it overlays "Points Of Interest" over the camera. These can be from Wikipedia, Qype and Wikitude.me. There are various categories of information you can select including Sights, Towns, Nature, Hospitality, Shopping, Traffic and Miscellaneous.

Selecting one of the overlayed icons brings up more information. See the next photo for one type of user user journey.

Curtains up on Ars Electronica's new Future Thinking School! The curriculum doesn't include mathematics, history or Latin, but artificial intelligence, augmented reality and blockchain. Launched in 2020, the Future Thinking School is Ars Electronica's newest initiative, engaging clients from business and the public sector in a critical examination of current issues in art, technology and society. The focus of the workshops and continuing education programs for managers and employees is on teaching classification and application skills in the spirit of digital humanism.

Do you think you're being stalked? You're probably right. In our present day world consisting of both a physical universe and a virtual realm there's more than meets the eye. There's one thing to do: find out, and stalk your stalker. Use this app to spot your stalker hiding behind a tree or just standing around the corner. Good luck! play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.augmentnl.Stalker

After selecting an option from the previous scrolling list, you get a new, summary-like overlay displaying the title, description and distance of the target. The user can also click on the blue arrow for further detail.

This is an application for AR that's fun and helps extend the card experience. Augmented Reality has some practical applications too as demonstrated using several smartphone apps that tap this technology.

Augmented Reality, or AR, is a general term for manipulating our experience of the world around us with technology. Today it means pointing your smartphone camera at a restaurant and getting reviews. Tomorrow it might mean complete immersion into a customizable version of reality via 3D stereoscopic camera/video headsets.

Rather similar compared to version 1.0, but a major difference is the lack of a camera. If you want to film, put a GoPro on your head. Wearable devices like these are meant as contextual tools, to provide access to the (invisible) world of data surrounding us. No camera needed for that! My guess: the camera will become a miniature detachable add-on to be worn somewhere else on your body, inobtrusively.

Using FLAR (Flash Augmented Reality) I've managed to get 2 markers reacting to one another in 3D space, in real time. The opportunities for interactive 3D animations are amazing.

With the recent announcement by billion dollar startup #magicleap of yet another AR wearable and considering the plans, rumours and patents filed by companies like Apple, Google and Facebook it's clear that the AR wearable has become a seven-headed beast. The end of Google Glass was not the end of augmented reality glasses. Our future is going to be augmented because the big influential tech-companies want our life to be augmented, for a reason.

After selecting one of the overlayed icons, if there is more than one thing to choose from, the app displays a scrolling list of choices. In this instance I think I pressed the ".me" one. Selecting an option then takes you to a new overlay.

Working in conjunction with Extra Reality, I illustrated an Augmented Reality T-Shirt, whilst Extra Reality built the whole Augmented Reality aspect.
