5143 was the first locomotive to be repainted in the KiwiRail colours, and also appeared at Wellington station for the unveiling of the KiwiRail brand on the 1st of July, 2008. That was just over 10 years ago. Blimey! Time flies, doesn't it?

I was practicing with my 1.4 converter on my 100-400 lens. Unfortunately, the auto focus doesn't work on lenses with more than f4. So I have been in manual focus mode. I am planning a trip to Yellowstone in May and need the longest glass I can use. More duck.

David Persson approching the mid-route shoulder on the NE Face of Redoubt in Washington.

David died in 1999 after a fall while tele-skiing Liberty Ridge on Rainier. Note also that he's carrying skis up Redoubt. David loved to ski the steeps.

Like most other glaciers, this one left behind a moraine (large rock pile) along it's retreat path.
