I saw faces in these storm clouds as they loomed over our lake yesterday afternoon. Maybe just a rugged old man, or-- is there a crying baby with hand extended next to the face of another man who seems to be in distress???

The name of Stornoway comes from the Norse for "Steering Bay", an indication of the very early origins of the town. As the best natural harbour in the Western Isles it was an obvious focus for development, and Stornoway Castle was built as early as 1100 by the MacNicol family. The castle was later captured by a Viking called Leod, who founded the dynasty that later became the MacLeods of Lewis.

The speed restriction on the final approach to Dehradun station confirmed just 8 kmph. Occupying the long headshunt on the embankment was Indian Railways WDM-3A 16292R of Lucknow (LKO) propelling stock for Train 4042, the 21:20 Mussorie Express to New Delhi into one of the station's holding sidings.

The usual place I see hummers feeding on cardinal flowers I always manage to visit when those blooms are in deep shade, so to finally have a chance at a shot like this in sunlight was thrilling. Love how hummy is keeping an eye on me!

Summer lasted well into the middle of September this year but then came to an abrupt end shortly after that. We are now paying for the warm and dry summer we have been lucky enough to enjoy the last few months, as the rain and cold have moved in and it looks like this weather isn't going away anytime soon.
For the first couple of days on a recent camping trip a took, I was lucky to have very mild weather which made paddling the Georgian Bay coastline a pleasure. The one thing I hadn't counted on were the lingering mosquitoes and since I had no brought any repellent, I was itching all through the night.
