I took this picture at my sister's house where she always has at least two feeders out and attracts large quantities of hummingbirds.
Lighting stuff: I learned the lighting that I used here from a book by Linda Robbins called The Hummingbird Guide. Her method is to use a minimum of 5 to 6 strobes, a supplied background, and photograph the birds in the shade so that you don't have to overpower the sunlight. When you use multiple strobes on a subject in the shade you can use lower power settings for each flash which results in shorter flash durations which means it freezes the wing blur. The backdrop is a painting my wife did for this purpose. I used 6 Yongnuo strobes because I wanted to use identical manual power output for each flash . One strobe was pointed at the background, one was underneath the feeder, and the other 4 strobes surrounded the feeder. The strobes were all at around 1/32nd power, in manual mode, and were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N., and you can see the EXIF info on the side. This method is the only way that I've been able to photograph one of these birds with little, or no, wing blur. I've finally learned to pre-focus on a spot near the feeder, using Live View, so that the birds are usually all in focus. I can then sit farther away from the feeder and trigger the strobes and the camera remotely. Down below in the first comment, you can see a picture of the setup that I used on that particular day.

Visiting the Nene Valley Railway for their "35A New England"-themed winter steam gala, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the sheds closure, LNER D49/1 class 4-4-0 No. 62712 'Morayshire' approaches Ferry Meadows working the 13:20 Wansford to Peterborough, on 21st February 2015.
Only some 4 months out of the box, the unnamed 209 approaches Tandragee with the 08.00 Belfast Central - Dublin Connolly.
Some 20 years earlier, I was in the green lineside hut at left, which the then track-walker had kitted-out as his home-from-home, complete with stove, armchair and some insulation for a degree of comfort. Long gone, no doubt.

After passing the duck pond on the south side of the village complex, Boothbay Railway Village Henschel Tank Locomotive #6 rounds the bend into Freeport Station, near the village entrance. Freeport Station is the beginning and ending point for all excursions. In addition to its function as a railroad station, the Freeport Depot also houses the village's gift shop. After completion of each hourly trip, the train will typically sit on the station platform here for perhaps 30 minutes, until the next hourly departure.

The prospect of sun shining on the late Right Reverend Bishop Eric Treacy's favourite Settle-Carlisle location could not be ignored on the last of this season's Winter CME's, and what a fine sight the 'Scot' made coming over 'the Roof of England' at an incredible speed. 46115 'Scots Guardsman' approaches the summit at Ais Gill heading the 1Z87 'Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' from Carlisle to London Euston on Saturday 8th March 2014.

As we near Vancouver Island by ferry, the sky turned slightly ominous. Luckily it didn't rain until we hit land.
My first upload from the Ephotozine meet on for sunrise on Sunday. The sun was trying to get through the clouds and was providing some colour up in the sky. Out at sea you can just see a rainbow from another shower.

Split Rock is a shelf of solid limestone of which canal workers had to cut a water gap for the canal right of way.
We have had some intense late afternoon storms lately and this is the leading edge of one of them yesterday.
I like watching the weather and skies. I especially like lightening and thunder!

Runway 10/28 at Aeroport de Saint-Barthelemy Remy de Haenen (SBH / TFFJ) in Saint-Jean, Saint-Barthelemy is only 2,130 feet / 650 metres long.
The steep approach to runway 10 is made over a roundabout that is situated between two hills. That gap is named Col de la Tourmente, or Tormented Pass.
This image was taken during an approach aboard PJ-WCC, a trusty de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter operated by Windward Islands Airways International NV of Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten.
Recorded approaching Cardiff Central station in May 1990, BR 37431 'Sir Powys/County of Powys' had charge of the Table 87 1V08 09:15 from Liverpool Lime Street.

Shot from a moving automobile heading onto the Verrazano Bridge that connects Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City (I was not driving).
The diagonal streaks are from a motion-blurred chain-link fence that enclosed the ramp. I loved the vignetting effect it made once I processed the photo and strengthened it.
