i love how when a storm approaches the sky gets all dark and menacing. Of course i'm safely indoors when the storm hits. I'm a coward like that :)

Like most people I usually take the Express Monorail to get to the Magic Kingdom from the Ticket and Transportation Center. It's quick, easy and great if you are in a hurry. If you are not in a hurry, or just want a different experience I highly recommend taking a Ferry over to the park at least once while during your Disney World Vacation. If you do, be sure to go to the top deck and work your way to the front near the rail. The view is incredible and watching Cinderella Castle getting bigger and bigger as you approach the Magic Kingdom is worth the short walk over to the Ferry Launch. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

Final Approach for Montreal.

Sunset off the Sussex coast near Hove beach - January 2024.

On the first day of my Markha Valley trek in Hemis National Park, I was met in my hotel (3,520 m, 11,549 ft.) in Leh, by my guide, Norbu and, cook, Dibi and driven southwestward 8 km, (5 mi.) to the Spituk Gompa (Spituk Monastery, 3,320 m, 10,892 ft.) above the true right bank of the Indus River, where our horseman, Rigzin, and four packhorses to carry our gear were waiting to join us.

After visiting the gompa, we started the trek on foot, crossing a bridge over the Indus and then walking westward along a road above the true left bank of the river to a point (3,240 m, 10,630 ft.) above the confluence of the Jingchan Chu (Jingchan River) and the Indus, where we entered Hemis National Park, 12.5 km (7.8 mi.) from the Spituk Gompa. We then trekked up the true right bank of the Jingchan Chu 1.3 km (0.8 mi.), initially west-southwestward and then southward to a bridge (3,260 m, 10,696 ft.) where we stopped for lunch. After lunch we crossed to the true left bank of the river and continued for 2.6 km (1.6 mi.), initially southwestward and then south-southeastward, to Jingchan (3,390 m, 11,122 ft.) where we camped for the night. Norbu is seen here five minutes before reaching Jingchan. An unnamed peak (c. 4,590 m, 15,059 ft.) is seen on the horizon left of center.

This is a view of the Hetch Hetchy reservoir in Yosemite National Park. We were going on a wildflower walk along the reservoir. We walked over the Shaughnessy Dam and through a tunnel. Then we notice that a major thunderstorm was approaching. We return to the car.
