This is a long exposure shot , I took it from a park in Brooklyn , New York .

I choose this composition because we see the bridge and also the sky which I think add more to the photograph .

The choice is mine, in silent tone

Should clouds arrive I have some friends

But all is light and dreams have ends..~

"There are 98 bosses and over 200 tons of sandstone in the Chapel ceiling; the larger bosses weigh over a ton each." (Wikipedia)

The slot canyons are amazing. This comes straight from the raw file with only a little sharpening. The color is 100% as is.

A pre dawn drive to the Marin Headlands through dense fog was the price, the view of the Golden Gate Bridge today priceless !!

Sono questi i paesaggi che mi affascinano ed avvolte commuovono..., il silenzio interrotto solo dal cinguettio frenetico, le nebbie mattutine ed il Sole che che poi ti regala questi colori...la meravigliosa Val d'Orcia!!

These are the landscapes that fascinate me..., the silence interrupted only by the frenetic chirping, the morning mists and the Sun that then gives you these colors...amazing Val d'Orcia

Here is another panorama of three of the KAT-7 radio-telescopes... captured shortly after sunset... at the SKA site near the Karoo town of Carnarvon.

These telescopes are very photogenic... and they look amazing when you stand right under them and look up through an ultra-wide-angle lens. The problem with this approach is that the more you tilt the lens upwards... the more the telescopes lean inwards... and the closer to the edge of the photo they are... the more they lean! This always looks very odd and unnatural to me... my brain simply can't accept it... so I always try to avoid leaning verticals in my own photos.

For me it was all about finding the balance between getting up as close as I could... while still minimizing distortion. Some of the distortion could be corrected with Photoshop's Lens Correction filter... but the more correction you apply... the more the pixels in the image get stretched and squashed... which is also something that I try to avoid at all cost.

I found the best compromise to be stepping back from the telescopes... and shooting panoramas with a slightly longer focal length... thereby giving the appearance of closeness... with considerably less distortion than when shooting with a wider lens.

Panorama, Nikon D800, Nikkor 14 - 24 mm at 19 mm, ISO of 100, aperture of f/14 with a 10 second exposure.

Sundown on an incredible day.

The sun sets in the old year and will greet us all again in the new. All the best for 2025!

The light after a brief rain shower in Birmingham was amazing. Taken outside Symphony Hall looking towards the new library.

In our joy, we think we hear a whisper.

At first it is too soft. Then only half heard.

We listen carefully as it gathers strength.

We hear a sweetness.

The word is Peace.

It is loud now.

Louder than the explosion of bombs.

We tremble at the sound.

We are thrilled by its presence.

It is what we have hungered for.

Not just the absence of war. But true Peace.

A harmony of spirit, and comfort of courtesies.

Security for our beloveds and their beloveds.

We, Angels and Mortals, Believers and Nonbelievers,

Look heavenward and speak the word aloud.

Peace. We look at each other, then into ourselves,

And we say without shyness or apology or hesitation:

Peace, My Brother.

Peace, My Sister.

Peace, My Soul.

Braving the elements this sweet alyssum is still going strong.

If you give life a chance it will flourish in difficult times. Nourish it and it could become some thing great.

Worth seeing large.

This was a fairly small web--maybe under 5 inches (13cm),

so I didn't notice the fine detail until I put it up on the screen---- I was focusing on the rainbows... :)

When you view closely, you can see hundreds of perfect squares, like a fine hairnet.

This may be common, but I've never really seen it before.

Amazing and labor-intensive work--- a highly skilled spider indeed! :)
