This is/was an amazing derelict house that I stumbled upon maybe 6 years ago or so. At that time it was boarded up with NO TRESPASSING signs all over it. I drove through the area again last year and it was still there but open, so I pulled over to get some shots. To MY amazement, the owner came out and actually wanted me to take photos inside and out, so I came back later and caught the inside as well. Interesting history, but it was slated to be torn down by late summer this year as too many vandals 😡😩 had broken in and stolen things which the owner could no longer bear. I’m working a bit at a time to produce the images of the house for the owner.
A lone farmer lived here. He inherited the farm from his parents. During the Great Depression, he was forced to sell of half the land and cattle to remain liquid. His mother lived with him there until she died. Her clothes were still hanging in the closet...for the last 60+ years, so were his overalls and much of the original furnishings...although by the time I got in, quite a bit had been stolen. His name was Glen Pierce. He was so devastated by memories of the Great Depression that he feared ever getting married and not being able to support a wife and family, and so he was never married. He became a paternal, grandfather figure to the present owner who lived across the street and was close friends with his family and community. An outstanding gentleman. Glen, having no heirs, willed the property to the present owner.
I saw this lady at a festival and I knew I had to take her photograph. The hat, the dress, the purse, and that amazing smile! I asked and she agreed and put that amazing smile out there for me to capture.
Taking the cable car up from Beatenberg, Switzerland, gives some amazing views that are really impossible to capture. We were given a wonderful mix of clouds and landscape, with some scattered thunder and lightening to punctuate the scene.

These are special Midleton releases where they’re aged in American Oak at first (typical) but then in Irish Wood at the end. The type of wood, the tree, the batch, all specified. I tried it at the Distillery in Midleton and cannot believe I didn’t buy any.

Early in the morning I had a walk along the shore, the slow rise of the Sun ... was amazing.

The Iris is a genus of 260–300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers.
It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species.
As well as being the scientific name, iris is also very widely used as a common name for all Iris species.
It is a popular garden flower. The genus is widely distributed throughout the north temperate zone. Their habitats are varied, ranging from cold and montane regions to the grassy slopes, meadowlands and riverbanks of the northern hemisphere.
Irises are perennial plants, growing from creeping rhizomes (rhizomatous irises) or, in drier climates, from bulbs (bulbous irises). They have long, erect flowering stems. All irises have long steal and flowers with six petals, three downwards and three upright. The flowers can range in color from golden yellow, to white, blue, lavender and purple. Pink and apricot colored irises are grown in some species.
This picture was taken in "De Passiflorahoeve" (Passiflorafarm) in Harskamp, the Netherlands.
De lis (Iris) is een plantengeslacht uit de lissenfamilie (Iridaceae). Zowel het geslacht als de soorten worden in de volksmond vaak iris genoemd. Het geslacht kent naast zo'n 260 à 300 beschreven soorten ook vele cultivars. Lissen worden al lang door de mens gebruikt. In de Egyptische piramiden zijn afbeeldingen van lissen te vinden, die stammen uit 1500 v.Chr.
De verschillende soorten lissen komen algemeen voor in de noordelijke gematigde klimaatzone. Alle irissen hebben lange stelen en bloemen met zes kroonbladeren, waarvan drie naar beneden wijzen en drie rechtop staan. Bij sommige kleinere soorten wijzen de kroonbladeren allemaal naar buiten. De bloemen kunnen in kleur variëren van goudgeel, tot wit, blauw, lavendel en paars. Roze en abrikooskleurige irissen zijn gekweekt binnen sommige soorten.
De meeste wilde lissen groeien uit een wortelstok, maar sommige soorten groeien vanuit een bol. Deze laatste soorten worden als cultuurgewas geteeld.
