I saw this lady at a festival and I knew I had to take her photograph. The hat, the dress, the purse, and that amazing smile! I asked and she agreed and put that amazing smile out there for me to capture.

Landmannalaugar is in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the Highlands of Iceland. It is at the edge of Laugahraun lava field, which was formed in an eruption around the year 1477. It is well known for its natural geothermal hot springs and surrounding landscape.
Landmannalaugar is the northern end of the Laugavegur hiking trail and a popular destination for tourist traveling in Iceland.

To be found just off the very busy road. The by-pass, built in the 1950s, took the heavy traffic out of the village, but it also cut St. John the Baptist off from the village. There is, however, a narrow tunnel under the road where one can walk to the church and see whether John Newton's experience of Amazing Grace ("was lost, but now am found") can come true. The African fish eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer) is not a ātrueā eagle but belongs to the Haliaeetus genus of sea eagles, alongside seven other species worldwide that include the American bald eagle and the Eurasian white-tailed eagle. This is one of the most ancient genera among all living birds. And it is a sight to behold.
African fish eagles are kleptoparasites, which is to say they habitually steal prey from other species. Common victims of this piratical behaviour include goliath herons and saddle-billed stork.
A fish eagleās toes are coated in sharp barbs, called spiricules, which consequently help it to grasp fish and other slippery prey.
Fish are not the only item on the menu of this versatile predator. In addition, other prey includes ducks, terrapins, crocodiles, small waterfowl and even ā in the soda lakes of East Africa ā flamingos.
This birdās conspicuous nature and charismatic presence ensure it figures prominently in the folklore and heraldry of several nations.
This amazing African Fish Eagle was photographed just after sunrise coming in to pick up the bait on a early morning boat ride on Lake Baringo, Kenya.
These are special Midleton releases where theyāre aged in American Oak at first (typical) but then in Irish Wood at the end. The type of wood, the tree, the batch, all specified. I tried it at the Distillery in Midleton and cannot believe I didnāt buy any.
This is/was an amazing derelict house that I stumbled upon maybe 6 years ago or so. At that time it was boarded up with NO TRESPASSING signs all over it. I drove through the area again last year and it was still there but open, so I pulled over to get some shots. To MY amazement, the owner came out and actually wanted me to take photos inside and out, so I came back later and caught the inside as well. Interesting history, but it was slated to be torn down by late summer this year as too many vandals š”š© had broken in and stolen things which the owner could no longer bear. Iām working a bit at a time to produce the images of the house for the owner.
A lone farmer lived here. He inherited the farm from his parents. During the Great Depression, he was forced to sell of half the land and cattle to remain liquid. His mother lived with him there until she died. Her clothes were still hanging in the closet...for the last 60+ years, so were his overalls and much of the original furnishings...although by the time I got in, quite a bit had been stolen. His name was Glen Pierce. He was so devastated by memories of the Great Depression that he feared ever getting married and not being able to support a wife and family, and so he was never married. He became a paternal, grandfather figure to the present owner who lived across the street and was close friends with his family and community. An outstanding gentleman. Glen, having no heirs, willed the property to the present owner.
The clouds were a very unique shade of deep pink or bubblegum-like this evening. This was the true color. It was quite dramatic!
