While I was having the tank filled, I glanced towards the lake. The recently fallen snow was melting on the street and into the parking lot, creating a path to the shimmering lake and the sun blazed over everything in a hazy wintery light.
Here I used a 45mm length of 3/16" steel rod fed through the cable guides and zip-tied down to the top tube to aid in the alignment.

Protein alignment and phylogenetic analysis of CCAP receptors in insects.A) Amino acid sequence alignment of the CCAP receptors identified or predicted in 21 species in arthropods. The predicted location of the seven transmembrane regions (TM1-TM7) are indicated above each row. Following the 50% majority rule, identical amino acids are shaded in black, and similar amino acids are shaded in gray in column consensus residues. (B) The phylogenetic relationship of the insect CCAP receptors was generated using the Maximum Likelihood method based on the Jones et al. (1992) with frequency model [45]. The numbers at the nodes represent percentage support in 1500 bootstrap replicates. All positions containing gaps and missing data were eliminated. This phylogenetic tree is drawn to scale and the branch lengths are measured in the number of substitutions per site.
Taken on the roof of the Algonquin College Woodroffe Campus. It's one end of a point-to-point link.
The other end is at EION Worldwide Headquarters in Kanata.

final garage wall panel alignment session using a length of rope and a large sledgehammer, a length of 2" x 4" and a set of long M8 threaded rods!
The interior stud detail piece needs to be aligned with the wall panel piece, so I place the wall panel against my "alignment block" and use that flat surface to line up the wall stud piece.

Crazy to see professional teams doing an alignment the same way as shadetree mechanics. They just use fancier tools.

Part of the series of menhirs aligned in a few fields in Carnac. Quite impressive even though we have no ideas why the people did it.

I singled out the abrupt change in colour as a target for my artistic endeavors. I thought it neat how the warm, orange glow reflecting from the clouds, and the cool blue/green was divided so clearly in both sky and water.
After sprinting up and down the beach with my camera and tripod, looking like a seagull on speed, the waves stole the show, by lining up perfectly on the colour line. I didn't photoshop this, but I didn't plan it either. It just happened.
Showing the coupler alignment. Pay no attention to the gap at the top of the buffer plate. Nothing is glued in place so it is hanging loosely in position.
The coupler on the GP35 to the right has been repositioned inboard a bit as well.

Whalley Abbey is a Cistercian foundation, founded 1296. Initial building was slow due to lack of funding. The Abbey was closed in 1537 following the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
A 'thing' of mine is making alignments that really aren't there. A bit like making my own lay lines! Lining up doors, cavities, etc. Anyone can join up two points to make a straight line!
And doors which are ajar; I think that comes from a childhood memory of a BBC drama called 'The Secret Garden'. Sometime in the 1960's!
And views from windows which have never been viewed in centuries!
Enjoy!
