While I was having the tank filled, I glanced towards the lake. The recently fallen snow was melting on the street and into the parking lot, creating a path to the shimmering lake and the sun blazed over everything in a hazy wintery light.

Here I used a 45mm length of 3/16" steel rod fed through the cable guides and zip-tied down to the top tube to aid in the alignment.

Went for a hike this morning at Highbanks, and got there early enough to catch some of that magical light. I guess August is just the time for it.

Previewed this spring as part of The New Museum's Festival of Ideas for the New City Streetfest, the Solar Alignment walk will explore the relationship with our all-pervasive yellow dwarf, and raise our levels of awareness at multiple scales--from the urban to the celestial. Participants will experience unexpected synchronicity between the sun and the city. The walk will focus on the moment when the interstellar choreography of gravity and light intersect with urban patterns in stone and concrete.

Showing the coupler alignment. Pay no attention to the gap at the top of the buffer plate. Nothing is glued in place so it is hanging loosely in position.
The coupler on the GP35 to the right has been repositioned inboard a bit as well.
The planetary alignment on december 29th. mercury on the bottom, then jupiter, the moon and venus on top.
