Two hot air balloons align over Bristol during the Olympic Torch Celebrations
Crazy to see professional teams doing an alignment the same way as shadetree mechanics. They just use fancier tools.
Part of the series of menhirs aligned in a few fields in Carnac. Quite impressive even though we have no ideas why the people did it.

I singled out the abrupt change in colour as a target for my artistic endeavors. I thought it neat how the warm, orange glow reflecting from the clouds, and the cool blue/green was divided so clearly in both sky and water.
After sprinting up and down the beach with my camera and tripod, looking like a seagull on speed, the waves stole the show, by lining up perfectly on the colour line. I didn't photoshop this, but I didn't plan it either. It just happened.
This old alignment of the National Road and US 40 appears just before the road crosses into Indiana.

Harecastle South Tunnel - 1,766yds
Built in 1848 by James Brindley & Co. Harecastle Tunnel (South) was on the original route of the West Coast Mainline (WCML) built for the North Staffordshire Railway it was one of three railway tunnels in this area with the other two built to the north, the middle - 180yds and north - 130yds which is still in use on the new alignment of the WCML. Initially it was deemed the only route possible would be to go under Harecastle Hill as to go round would be too costly and steep of which steam trains would be slow to pass however in 1966 during British Rail’s WCML electrification scheme it was found the tunnels were too small in diameter to allow for fitment of the overhead catenary and associated cabling and the boring out of the south tunnel to costly and with the advancement of the railways and more powerful locomotives it was no longer an issue to go round including the incorporated inclines, so it was decided the the WCML would be rerouted and now only the north tunnel remains in use with the new alignment passing through a new tunnel at Kidsgrove before passing through the original (north) tunnel. Harecastle South & Middle tunnels have remained abandoned since 1966 with only basic maintenance work being carried out.

A perfect example of a problem created, not solved, by using InDesign’s optical alignment function. This isn't entirely InDesign's fault either, the fonts themselves play a role* — but ultimately I'm more worried by how it's casually employed. I've seen many instances this year of (what appears to be) default optical alignment that actually renders the typography worse. Typographer's must tread lightly.
* Do they not? I've always assumed there was more going on than Adobe's own relative math.
Disclaimer: It's entirely possible that this text box didn't use the story palette, but I'd put money on it.
I have took the text from a poster I have been analyzing in my graphics course. I wrote up the text into a blank document on photo shop and created the text into a brush tool. I used the format of the left alignment to paint it onto this poster.
This Painting was selected for the Annual Juried Show, Celebrate Arts. It received Third Place.
