El Nino update:
Lately, weather forecasts and weather maps have turned into a new version of "Where's Waldo" called "Where's El Nino". It's already October and we were still seeing bone-dry weather conditions. Despite this, I still feel we will soon have a wet upcoming winter. There are only 2 El Ninos with the strength of the one expected this winter: 82-83 and 97-98. The observed stronger westerlies across the Pacific is still in a very strong pattern. Just a week or two ago, the flow across the Pacific was disorganized. Now, just looking at the past few maps, we get to see a good fetch of westerlies across the Pacific. This is a good sign and might be from this strong El Nino...
