I had about 30 seconds to get a shot of this moose calf before it scurried back into the trees along with its sibling and mom. All three were pretty skittish and after I topped a small ridge into their view they quickly retreated. Taken near Soldotna, Alaska. Best viewed Large.
This Heron was on alert briefly while walking along the water by some nearby birds calling, i can't remember but it would have been Magpies or Ravens.
This greenie turned quickly as something got its attention. This may be the last green heron image until Spring as I haven't seen any lately. Thanks to all for the comments and faves. They are much appreciated.
The sign tells us that deer are present in the fields and are likely to walk, jump or bolt across the road at any time …. BE on ALERT !

The attitude of this avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) is clear and very graphic, we are entering breeding territory. The alert voice, a series of sharp and repetitive "cluu-it" is announcing it to us, we must turn around and do not disturb.

This is Georgia, our dog, staring intently across the yard with perked ears. I never did figure out what she was looking at, lol.

Lionesses are the primary hunters of the pride. They are smaller and more agile than males and they use teamwork to bring an animal down. After a successful hunt, all the lions in the pride share the meal. But there is a pecking order, with the adult males eating first, followed by the lionesses and finally the cubs.

The camera focusing on the left eye (in the sun) caused the shady side of the head to fade in focus, which, while I didn't intend or expect this, I think works.
I must look like a stalker with the camera to my face, looking for interesting shots. I defused the lady by praising her dog--who wasn't buying from me :-)

She was ready to take a shower but something sinister was happening outside, She picked up her trusted uzi gun and steadied herself raising a foot upon her beloved peacock chair. Her sarong hung beneath her right hand as she listened for the sound of footsteps....Shhhhhhh what was that as she stands perfectly still. Oh a gecko ran across a wall of her apartment...she thinks to herself...and mom and dad thought I was deaf.....she giggles to herself.
