I love cows for their trust and curiosity, I murmured soothing words as I leaned over the fence to get this group shot. It all went pear shaped when I invited then to a barbecue, but by then I has my shot. What was I saying about trust?
Good sample how great a legacy lens can be, adapted to a mirrorless body! This is a very sharp lens with no issues, except slight color fringing against bright backgrounds. And it's a heavy lens. The use as a tele-macro lens is better than I expected, but I prefer the 105mm Micro Nikkor for closer focusing distance, size and weight.

These two whitetail bucks with antlers in velvet were on alert....
A young Black Bear cub was coming through the forest just below them and the bear was hidden in some tall undergrowth, so the deer seemed not quite sure what it was causing the noises that they heard.
A black-backed jackal stands alert at the edge of a rain soaked muddy road in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. The rainy season that comes early in the year in this area is a time of plenty for the animals. These jackals are endemic to Africa and prefer open woodland savanna.

Cats become alert due to their natural instinct as both predator and prey, causing them to constantly scan for threats, prey, or environmental changes using superior hearing and vision.

This greenie turned quickly as something got its attention. This may be the last green heron image until Spring as I haven't seen any lately. Thanks to all for the comments and faves. They are much appreciated.
Spoiler alert - these are not "wild birds". They are rehab birds that were guests at the High Desert Museum, in Bend, Oregon, a couple of years ago. If you look closely, you can see a transmitter antenna on the lower back of the top bird.
We were able to have fun taking pics of these birds during a pre-covid half-day photo shoot with these wonderful raptors. If you ever get a chance to sign up for this event at the High Desert Museum, Just Do It! You won't be sorry. The staff is wonderful, as are the photo instructors (Hi Abbott!).
These birds are not native to Oregon, more to Mexico and the border area. However, I love the way that their colors mesh with the background of the high desert area around Bend.
Every once in awhile, one of the residents of the High Desert Museum flies off, at which point the staff members hop in their truck and track down the AWOL guest, using the transmitters that are temporarily attached to the guests while they participate in events such as the one that we attended.
Fun Times Indeed!!!
