This member of the rodent family of animals, was very wary of me, and very protective of his surroundings.
Walking through Lincoln Memorial Garden's many paths, I was on the lookout for animals, hoping to get a portrait if possible. I noticed this bushy-tailed squirrel ahead of me, scurrying down the path. I stopped and it stopped to see what I was up to. I stood still, and it did likewise. I started walking towards it, and it proceeded to the nearest tree, climbing just a few feet up the trunk and keeping a watchful eye on me. I moved closer to it, and it moved further up the tree.
Eventually, this bright-eyed adult squirrel ventured closer to me, but high on the tree limb. Then as I started to take it's photograph, it turned this and that way, twitching its tail to and fro, all the while keeping me clearly in its sights. In situations like this, other squirrels have begun to chitter at me, or perhaps it's a call of warning to its brethren of the forest, I don't know which. This one, just kept on the alert, waiting for me to make my next move.
I bid it a good day, and moved on, having gotten my portrait. I didn't turn around to see what the squirrel was doing as I moved away, but I imagine it kept me in its sights for a while.
Nice of it to pose for me.
She's growing up fast, from a little kitten to a big girl only used two years.
Now she's reached certain stage, tumbling on the floor, making weird noises. Lots of friends saying she's now in the season, need to do something about it, either get her to the vet for an operation, or give her a boyfriend.
Here is the very difficult situation. As much as I don't think I have the right to take away her right to be a mother, I am worried if there are lots of kittens running around the house after I give her a boyfriend, and I just can't deal with lots of cats in the house, if I send those little kittens away, MiMi is gonna be very upset, I don't wanna see her searching around house trying to find her babies when the fact is she may never see her babies in her life, that's cruel.
On the other hand, if I neither take her to the vet nor give her a boyfriend, she's gonna through a lot "difficult time", which is bad for her too.
What I am gonna do?
People say all cats lovers are crazy, is my question too crazy?
He's atop the back cement block wall. Looking over the OTHER side of the yard to see if there are dogs over on that side too.
Awake, alert, and ready for action! Nothing is going to get past this legendary canine. This dog has got things covered.
Location: Po Toi Island
Shot with Nex 5N with SEL18200 handheld.
While walking up a flight of stairs towards the inner part of the island, i spotted this dog in the distance. It looked really alert. Was it my presence? I just had to take the shot right there and then because the dog was gone in seconds.
I found this nice green grasshopper on a fallen tree, about where the swamp area and boardwalk begin, about a hundred yards or so from the main building of the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center on September 5, 2010.
The wild boar/Linderöds-hogs were still out in the woods.
That's a wagon and thick with bedding straw in the background so they got fresh air and dry, warm conditions....good times for these hogs, the time they live on earth.
They say wild boars are extremely smart, this young one sure looks aware as can be.
Unbroken prairie grass in the background, doe and two fawns came upon the single fawn already alerted to cold photographer.
Now disbanded and dispersed to new Morningstar areas or Groupon. But while it lasted a rockstar Dev team.
1/13/09 - Day 13 of Project 365. This Cardinal was by herself. Usually a male counterpart is around. She was very alert while looking for food. I love how the feathers on the top of her head are standing up.
