These images were taken of some of the animals that were residing at the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy and Animal Orphanage. Since 1969, the animal orphanage at the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy continues to be home to countless animals that were orphaned, injured or needed special care. Many are successfully returned to the wild.

HBW!

Tyjar was about to get presents and Aurora was really, really interested. Her tail is up, her eyes are locked, and her ears are up. This is my first ever photoshoped image! Did all the ACR stuff in lightroom but then finished it in photoshop. Gausian blurred the background and got rid of all the fence criss crosses. Sharpend her face and body and lightened and pushed the green in her eyes a little bit. Fun stuff!

New group aims to clean up the streets of Prestatyn

A NEW action group has been set up to clean up the streets and footpaths of Prestatyn.

Prestatyn Watchdogs, will aim to improve public safety, promote unimpeded public access, safe routes to school and parking in the resort.

Former councillor Mike German said there were a number of overgrown hedgerows and footpaths in the town blocking access.

He said: "Our aim will be to promote the town's best attributes and identify areas of the town which need attention and sprucing up.

"We will be encouraging good housekeeping being applied to all the areas of the town which presently fall short of general expectations and which are unattractive.

"We want to make the streets more accessible.

"Denbighshire has it in its powers to deal with it without increased costs to themselves or the public.

"We are looking to do things efficiently. We are looking to improve the area with common sense."

Members of the group will also volunteer their time to perform tasks themselves working in conjunction with Denbighshire Council, Prestatyn Town Council, North Wales Police, the Welsh Government, and other groups, voluntary organisations and

charitable bodies

Mr German said: "We have had a lot of interest so far.

"We want people to bring things to our attention.

"We want to do what we can in a voluntary capacity, such as cutting down hedges.

"We will be to alert those responsible for maintaining free unhindered access of all the towns foot ways and pavements of the need for proper regular maintenance, the cutting and lopping of all hedges and trees and the end of obstructing those foot ways to the public use."

F_m and I went out today with the objective of taking some fine (!) shots of a Swamp Harrier - this was as close as we got. Although we did see one on a number of occasions, its distant fly-pasts indicated a reluctance to appear on Flickr.

With a week off work, I took the opportunity to get back into wildlife photography, something I have not really chased since the spring. I had been wanting to find some Deer, particularly Red Deer as its the Rutting season and was looking at Calke Abbey or Chatsworth Park but I didn't want the photos to look artificial and like I was shooting tame deer so I researched and came across an article online about an escaped group of Red Deer from around 100 years ago that had made their way from Chatsworth Park to the Moorland in the Peak District and headed out yesterday for that group. Over the years their numbers have grown to 200 strong but I knew that finding them would still be difficult. So when I walked over the rock outcrop on Big Moor at Curbar Gap I couldn't believe my luck. 1 Stag, 3 Does just stood grazing in the middle of the moor! I edged closer and tried to round them to put the wind towards me and lost sight of them. I persisted and carried on and found what I thought was the same small herd. 1 Stag, 3 Does. Awesome! After edging closer and getting better and better shots they moved away and then all of a sudden 7 other Does came out from behind a rock outcrop! I spent about an hour with this group until I was satisfied with the shots that I got and started to head back. Then I saw the original 4 Deer that I thought I'd found earlier. I was treated to another herd of 1 Stag and 6 Does. What a day! And I was rewarded for going that extra mile to find wild deer rather than settling for the easier option, something I am learning to do from @gerryvanderwalt so big thanks to him on his podcasts inspiring me!
