Week 14: "Show us the aftermath." - Maciej Dakowicz

With limit time this week my photo opportunities were limited to what I could find whilst shopping or walking to and from work. Luckily my work is firmly based on the fleeting moments so I found something quite fitting for this week's brief.

This 'aftermath' scene is the result of a few things: one, bad parking by the guilty owner of the silver car; two, the placement of the car beside the freshly painted taxi mural; and finally, the 'Keep Right' sign pointing at the traffic warden who is upholding his position and booking the silver car.

The recent tidal surge left boats scattered all over the top of the quay.

An old motel that used to house quite a few farmworker families. Sad.

I have moved on.

Moreover, I have let go.

Of you, of me,

of what once was,

and of what never will be.

really old photo but I thought I should re upload it

Last week we had a huge storm, and when I resumed my usual running route this week, I found this magnificent fallen tree (its twin was lying on the other side of the road, like two dead sentries). Silverfox is a shaman so I took him there to say farewell.

The pictures were taken for the photography contest maybe-innocent and her friends held on tumblr/facebook. My theme was “rain”.

Attended Oslo photo maraton this past weekend. This is one of the photos I took. The promt was 'Sloth' (Norwegian: Latskap).

The maraton was exhausting, but great fun! 12 hours of photographing, and running around to keep the time for all the checkpoints. :)

Of the battle between sea and land .... or perhaps that between Summer and Fall. We move forward from here.

Officers hold the line on all 4 sides of a police car that was torched by Black Bloc protestors. Rescue 235 and a Toronto Fire Honda Element providing support.

I woke up completely drained today. I think that move really took the wind out of my sails. I don't feel sick, but i feel tired to my soul. I woke up late and rushed kids to school; tried two cups of coffee and a bagel. Made it out long enough to get new shoes for the new hospital (bye red shoes, i will mourn you.) And then i headed directly back to my bed for some MUCH needed relaxation. I think i could have stayed there all day...... except there was laundry to do, and a house to be vaccuumed, and dishes to be dishwashered, and kids to be picked up.

sigh

typhoon has cleared the air a bit. we could even see one of the bridges (but not seen in this picture).

last images of the aftermath of the monsoon, brought about by converging two low pressure weather disturbance north north west of the philippines. these images of a mcdonalds resto located near marikina river whose car park was nearly submerged by rising river water. glad to inform you that the weather since yesterday has vastly improved and today we finally get a glimpse of the sun, however, in areas that were heavily affected by the flood, are now declared calamity zones and doing massive cleanups.

The results of using a pie made of aeresol-can whipped cream. This worked out surprisingly well!

This is my entry for the third round of the MOCOlypics over on MocPages where I was given the category of "Post Apoc." Here I have depicted what remains after an epic gun battle that took place outside a paritally collapsed building.
