The Asian Koel is a member of the cuckoo order of birds, the birds known as brood parasites that rely on others to raise their young. They are known to lay a single egg in the nests of a variety of birds, including the jungle crow, and house crow. They are unusual among the Cuckoos in being largely frugivorous as adults. The name Koel is echoic in origin and is a widely used symbol in Indian and Nepali poetry. The bird seen here is a female.
Incidentally this is the first shot of mine using the R10 coupled with the 300mm f/4 with Kenko 1.4x extension lens. Works like a charm with eye tracking working without a hitch.
Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus. An unwelcome invader, a real nuisance in the yard, garden, patio, deck. Kind of interesting looking, though...
It was morning time with sun just came out of clouds. This harmless snake provided a quick show and then disappeared into the grass.
Ahaetulla, commonly referred to as Asian vine snakes or Asian whip snakes, is a genus of colubrid snakes distributed throughout tropical Asia. They are considered by some scientists to be mildly venomous and are what is commonly termed as 'rear-fanged' or more appropriately, opisthoglyphous, meaning their enlarged teeth or fangs, intended to aid in venom delivery, are located in the back of the upper jaw, instead of in the front as they are in vipers or cobras. As colubrids, Ahaetulla do not possess a true venom gland or a sophisticated venom delivery system. The Duvernoy's gland of this genus, homologous to the venom gland of true venomous snakes, produces a secretion which, though not well studied, is considered not to be medically significant to humans. Several Asian Openbill storks perch in a tree, one with its wings held out — presumably for thermoregulation. These birds were seen during a two-week birding trip to Thailand in Southeast Asia.

A young domestic water buffalo in the kind of habitat it is most comfortable in, knee deep water with plenty to eat. They are relatively small in size especially when compared to their ancestor, the Wild Water Buffalo that is sadly considered as an endangered animal with only about 3,400 individuals known to survive, of which 90% live in India. Millions of these animals exist and their milk is richer in fat and protein than that of dairy cattle. A large feral population became established in northern Australia in the late 19th century, and there are smaller feral herds in Papua New Guinea, Tunisia and northeastern Argentina. Two types of domesticated water buffaloes are recognized, the River Buffalo of the western Indian subcontinent; and the Swamp Buffalo. Results of a phylogenetic (evolutionary development) study indicate that the river-type water buffalo probably originated in western India and was domesticated about 6,300 years ago.
These are very docile and loyal animals known to even risk their life to save the life of their owner. I have even read of incidents where these buffalos charged at man-eating tigers to save their owners, even though physically they are no match for the predator.

Miss Continent 2023 World costume: Asia
For the first Miss Continent Finale round, "World Costume" Tara as Miss C♛ Asia created a personal vision of the Asian region as a mix of many different cultures.
As it isn't possibly represent every single Asian country of this large and beautiful region, for each of them because of the diversity, we are still all connected by the one "Human Spirit". In her outfit Tara has chosen purples, golds, and whites colors are representing spirituality and higher divinity for the Asian region. In her outfit, you can see elements and styling details that comes from places India, the oriental China, the gorgeous Russia, the calming Japan, and the exotic Thailand.
Tara does not only brings just a well made styling to us, but also brings a powerful and touching message along.
For some time, Gods have been blind. When the Yellow Dragon, a symbol of the Asia region, appears, as a divine a creature that loves the earth so deeply dearly came to them and the blindfold fall from their eyes.
Then they could see now... and cried.
Their tears were a mix of pain and sorrow for the contemplation of human deeds in the world, but they also remembered their love for humanity and an immense forgiveness and hope filled their hearts.
Galaxy Deity holds carefully a beautiful planet Earth in her palm, speaking with humanity to preserve and love all life in Universe, holding then with power, two keys to open doors and choose the right path for the future.
Thank you. Namaste.
These birds usually we do not see. A couple have visited the nearby lake recently. Need to see how many more days they stay there.

Wikipedia: The Asian openbill or Asian openbill stork (Anastomus oscitans) is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. This distinctive stork is found mainly in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is greyish or white with glossy black wings and tail and the adults have a gap between the arched upper mandible and recurved lower mandible. Young birds are born without this gap which is thought to be an adaptation that aids in the handling of snails, their main prey. Although resident within their range, they make long distance movements in response to weather and food availability.
