This one's better: VIEWED LARGE
Fun around Landmannalaugar. I wanted something to really put the scope of that entire place in perspective.
Even though the car pictured is absolutely gigantic, it really does pale in comparison to the majestic landscape all around.
Let me know what you think.
moving up.
feeling lighter.
the more i let go,
the higher i fly.

An alien structure in a distant world... I hope they're friendly
It's very rare for me to very be interested in a #trailfail. I quite honestly just don't understand people that get excited whenever a heritage unit or rare engine comes to an area that is trailing 2nd or 3rd, yet will still want updates & will chase. I just see way better things to get excited for or for much better ways to spend my free time.
However, there are the (very) rare instances where the rule meets its exception. CSX S988 in July of 2022 was one of them. S988 was the delivery run of two brand new Brightline trainsets on their to Florida from the Siemens factory in California. Green 2 & Pink 2, the names the trainsets have been dubbed, were built in anticipation for Brightline's expansion to Orlando which will open later this year.
Having never seen one of the trainsets in person, the chance to document them in territory they'll never be seen in again & with a few friends along for the ride that wanted to see them to, we had ourselves a plan for the afternoon. Here, we see them climbing Raccoon Mountain as they head for Wauhatchie. 7-17-22
Climbing the car park stairs to Timmies as we have done many times before. This time, I saw the composition that I'd never noticed the countless previous times I'd taken these stairs.
Not quite happy with the original contrast, so thought I'd have a play with Snapseed on my iPhone. Reasonably happy with the increased gloom.
Heritage Three, Two ,and One are all present on Cajon Pass with BNSF 7346 in charge of interchange traffic for the CSX at Birmingham, Alabama. The train is pulling hard up one of the steepest sections of rail on Cajon's North Track as the train digs out of Cajon Station and starts it's lean into Sullivan's Curve. The observant eye can also see white double stacks belonging to the high priority Willow Springs, IL to San Bernardino Z-train as they finish the decent from the much steeper South Track.

SOOC :]
My sister has been dancing since she was three, and she held this for ten minutes while I got the shot.
Oh, I may be the recipient of a pro account soon:]
The SW route (from Slovenia) is one of the normal routes and is also nice in times of ski touring. In the background are Julian Alps with Triglav. (dia scan)
This real DNA staircase at the Hanze University in Groningen can be used on two sides. As it only connects two floors originally, I had a lot of edit fun expanding this.
Unfortunately I didn't bother to use the tripod so Jupiter's moons are rather blurry.
Thank you everyone for your visits, faves and comments, they are always appreciated :)
An eastbound train begins to climb the hill out of the Elkhorn River valley at Arlington, NE. Over 20 years ago, when I spent a lot of time along the Blair Sub during my time as a college in student in Fremont, it was relatively rare to find much eastbound traffic on this line. It was mostly directional running between Missouri Valley and Fremont, with westbounds using the former CNW Blair Sub and eastbounds taking the line through Omaha and Council Bluffs. With fewer trains (mostly due to the decline in coal traffic) and the siding at Kennard lengthened, Uncle Pete doesn't seem to have any qualms about sending nearly all of its transcontinental traffic along here in both directions these days. Also of note, I guess, is I tend to like the look of these locomotives with the gray on the angled portion of the nose rather than yellow.
V47, with motorcar DJM8131 in the lead, heads up the 1 in 80 gradient between Mount Victoria and Blackheath known as "Soliders Bank", along the edge of the Megalong Valley with NSW TrainLink Intercity service W576 from Mount Victoria to Sydney's Central Station.
There were 8 different orders of the V Set electric multiple-unit trains from 1968 to 1988, with the first four for camshaft resistance control and the final four for GTO–4-quadrant chopper control. The lead motor car was part of the 7th order in 1987 as well as the accompanying trailer car. However, the second trailer car and rear motor car were from the 4th and 5th orders in 1982 with slight differences, albeit the entire consist is a consistent "chopper".
In the foreground was the site of a large landslide that was 40 metres long, 20m wide and 60m deep following torrential rain in early-July 2023. The line was closed for approximately a month to allow for the repair, with 40,000 tonnes of rock brought into the site to rebuild the cliff face.
Thanks to the landslide, it has opened up this gap in the line without trees, holding sunlight until it sets.

How do you spend your Saturdays? After capturing a stunning sunset that night, I switched to a longer lens to focus on the finer details of the scene. The soft light and lingering colors in the distance created a magical atmosphere. What do you think?
