Here is a 1/72 scale Bristol Spaceplanes Ascender model I'm building from wood.
The wing was glued up from pieces cut from an old drawer. The grain runs from wingtip to wingtip.

Sandfellsheiđi is the rock finger that sticks up into the glacier surrounding Hvannadalshnúkur. It is the easiest way to get as high as possible prior to getting on ice and thus it is the standard route for ascending Hvannadalshnúkur.
