Sun rise! 'Uzhavan' is the Sun. The winter solstice is celebrated with pomp, gaiety, devotion by the Tamils. The festival was celebrated for about 32 days starting from December 22 to January 21. The celebrations of Christmas, New Year are all reminiscent of this. Until recently Tamils celebrated the last eight days, from 14th to 21, of these 30 days; though all the 30 days are considered significant. In fact a 48 day period is the celebration times memorable. The festival is more familiarly called ‘PONGAL’; another name of the sun. Thank you.

We were delighted to ride on horseback up the trail to the site. At over 9,000 feet, the trail would have taken its toll on us, accustomed as we are to living at sea level in Portland. It was also a lot of fun.
Here is a 1/72 scale Bristol Spaceplanes Ascender model I'm building from wood.
The wing was glued up from pieces cut from an old drawer. The grain runs from wingtip to wingtip.
