Mandy did a photo shoot with me on Saturday in and around Stanley Park. The weather was perfect -- mostly overcast, but sunshine when we needed it. She was a great model -- I hope we get a chance to try some more shoots.
Ama Dablam is famous for its long and steep snowy slope up to the summit. Close up it is less steep than it might seem and is beautifully wind-carved. The view is as breath-taking as the physical work of ascending. The weather was calm. In high wind, this slope would be an ordeal, not least form the small ice particles exfoliating exposed skin.

The ground floor of the museum. Notice the floor tilt: it is designed to give the impression of climbing, to allude to the ascend to the Acropolis.

Info on Adirondack Slides:
The Adirondacks are typically poor in soil and the soil layer is quite thin. On the mountains, below this thin layer of soil is ROCK, so when it rains really hard, for a few days, it's not uncommon for an entire layer of mountain side to come sliding down.
When this happens we have what are quite typical and somewhat unique to the Adirondacks, a slide.
Slides can be skied or climbed. They make for ideal backcountry ski slopes, and in summer make for great semi technical rock climbs, or technical hikes.
Many slides have 4th or 5th class headwalls on them but many are gentle enough to be 3rd class the whole way to the top. Not all end with summits and many require heinous bushwhacks to reach the summit if that is a goal.

Those who have ascended
have different attributes
from those who are still on earth,
yet there is no real separation.

I don't know whether this is gimmicky or brilliant, and I suppose the only way to find out is to ride one. One has to admit, it does look incredible though, and a frame weight of only 1.8lbs. for a 56cm frame is insanely light!
From Ascend Sports: "New for 2009 Delta 7 Sports has released their Ascend, an extremely stiff and light road frame. Recently featured in Men's Journal under "Perfect Things", the Ascend is built with IsoTruss Technology which is considered the ultimate composite structure."
