If Emanuel Hahn's Grieving Soldier is at the understated, naturalistic, down-to-earth end of the emotive scale of war memorial statuary, Coeur de Lion MacCarthy's dramatic, flamboyant, allegorical depiction of a dead soldier conveyed to heaven in the arms of an angel is at the other extreme.

This picture was made while ascending from the sunken sailing boat in Minusio.

The view from the top must have been superb. Actually, i'm not sure where the "top" is ... perhaps up in space above the earth's atmosphere.

I was too much of a wimp to even ascend a few steps up the stairs when there was no railing to hold on to.
