This image was taken whilst exploring the streets of Florence one morning during a weekend trip.
I explored not knowing what or how to capture my surroundings but knew I wanted to make the most of the relatively empty streets.
I was fortunate that some nuns passed by the Santa Maria as they help to capture the scale of the structure.
A common wasp (Vespula vulgaris) working her way up the very large inflorescence of a purple angelica (Angelica gigas).
For a closer shot of another (or possibly the very same) wasp taken the preceding day, please have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/48684623156/
A levitation photograph taken in a natural reserve in the east of the Netherlands. Not too happy with the pose, and the resolution/quality could also be higher to be honest. Still, for an impromptu idea execution, it is reasonably I guess.
Just a bit upstream, this creek is quite peaceful, slowly, and lazily negotiating its way around stones, cliffs and the like. But at one point, as if by a change of heart, it makes a run for it, and the quiet babbling quickly becomes a roaring crescendo, ascending in intensity, as the water loses height, one step at a time.

Well, I ascended it by air, which was much more civilized. I am so impressed by these mountain climbers that do it for real. Those are real dudes for sure… There're a lot of mountains here in New Zealand that are huge destinations for serious mountain climbers. I understand there are a few extra challenges here because of the ice, snow, and glaciers… I know people die all the time trying to climb Mount Cook, which is not too far away from this one… those guys have some balls! (and some frozen ones!)

I found my old Powershot G5 in the loft and took it out for a spin. An old 64mb CF card means I can only grab 12 RAW images before the card is full. It kinda helps to focus what you are shooting. Anyway, this is a long exposure of me walking up a set of steps. Tweaked in silver effex 2

I shot this as we were flying by the Vancouver airport (YVR) LOL.
Early morning light illuminates Mt Hood and a thready altocumulus lenticularis (lenticular) cloud on a cold and snowy winter morning. I really enjoyed watching the sunrise light and lenticular clouds from this quiet meadow near the mountain. I hope when you view this photo you feel some of the peaceful calm I experienced out there that morning. It definitely wasn't calm at the summit though, since you can see the strong winds blowing the snow off the summit! If you have ever climbed Mt Hood on the South Route, this photo gives a great look at the route including: Palmer Glacier, Illumination Rock, Illumination Saddle, Devil's Kitchen, Hogsback, Pearly Gates and Old Chute.
You are like me, but my abyss is clear.
And you have roads whose secrets never end.
They descend and ascend, descend and ascend.
