It looks like I styled this shot doesn't it? Actually I had brushed the leftover basil to the side of the cutting board just before I took the jars out of the water bath. It was only when I was cleaning up that I stopped an looked. Sometimes life just throws you an image.
As I fly into Heathrow for now, I have to put up with views of London blocked out by the Airbus' wing, but when it banks, you do still get fine views along the river.

As Brock was falling asleep in the woods, she had the dreamy impression that the woodland creatures were watching over her.
The eastbound local job L520 races through Marcellus, Michigan on Canadian National's SouthBend Subdivision with the last six-axel locomotive on the planet still wearing the red, white, and blue paint scheme of "The Good Track Road". Teetering dangerously over the train is a cantilever installed by the Grand Trunk in the mid 90's and is the only such signal anywhere on the railroad, and one of only two of similar shape and design. Replacement "PTC friendly" signal equipment can be seen on the far left of the scene, and before you know it, the 5936 will be scrapped and the remaining character of the Grand Trunk Western will slowly vanish.
As the temperature tops 100F, here's an image of a cooler time. It was a lonely, cold mile-long walk to reach this tree. The visit was worthwhile as my next trip to the site would find the tree fallen to the force of the ice.

As we journeyed our way across the Southwestern United States, we stopped in many places that were just amazing to see. This is the Mojave Air and Space Port, just outside Mojave, CA. One of our favorite places to visit through the years.
Many things go on at this port, including the testing and launching of such projects as Virgin Galactic, SpaceShipOne, and Space-X. Just beside it you see a familiar sight in California, even before they were popular; huge wind turbines spin on every side of the famous Tehachapi Pass.

Little (retro)radio station. It looks like a wedding cake with three "stories"). On the top there is the antenna. It is a clean device, banal to shoot, I found. So I shot it from above and converted to a low key image. I admit, it doesn't have much of a radio anymore :-(.

Luna Park is center middle. I liked the star burst even at f/10 on the bridge. Just had to dodge the larger boats with their lights moving across the frame but there are a couple if you look closely near the horizon. North Sydney business district in the background
As the summer progresses, the number of sailboat photos on my hard drive end up increasing...the outcome of living in a maritime city! Learning to sail is something that I want to accomplish in the near future, while this boathouse is for MIT students, there is a sailing academy open to the public on the opposite side of the river.
Normally, I prefer Velvia 50, but RVP100 has noticeably more exposure latitude, as seen here, and I really like how the old Soviet lens rendered the scene! Detailed but with a touch of vintage softness. I think it works well for scenes like this.
The seller had told me that my Contax IIa's shutter speeds were calibrated well enough to handle slide film, so for the fun of it I ran this roll through it. I was very pleasantly surprised by how the photos came out, aside from some metering mistakes, everything looked properly exposed. Think I've found another favorite film-lens combo!

As you approach St. Peter’s Square you will hear the heartening sounds of trickling water, these are the fountains of St. Peter's square, The two fountains on both sides of the Obelisk contribute to its atmosphere and beauty. These fountains were constructed during the renaissance and they are considered exemplary works. These fountains give St. Peter’s Square a relaxing atmosphere. The fountains are a great tourist attraction and they are considered among the most beautiful fountains in Rome. The fountains have been renovated and are well preserved.
As the year draws to a close, many people share collections of their favorite images from past posts. While I could do the same, I prefer to focus on the wealth of unprocessed data waiting on my hard drives.
Here’s a newly processed image from Mono Lake, which had been sitting in my backlog for far too long. It captures a memorable moment from the final night of my 2023 astrophotography trip.
The plan was to meet my friend Roi Levi, who drove up from L.A. to join me. Unfortunately, his car broke down just a few miles from Mono Lake. But that didn’t stop him - true to his dedication, he instructed the tow truck driver to drop him at our meeting point. Once there, he transferred his gear into my car, and we spent the night photographing the stunning tufas of Mono Lake.
His determination was well rewarded: we were treated to perfect conditions and a brilliant display of airglow along the horizon. For this panorama, I aimed to enhance the sky’s vibrant colors with subtle low-level lighting on the foreground. The result is, certainly, as colorful as a mono image can get.

As you may have guessed I got quite a lot of shots from Bolehill quarry even though the light was fading fast in the time I was there.
As one can tell, I do love those sunsets. My husband & I went out to Eastport to check out the sunset. I could not let this one go!

As stated in the previous shot in the stream, the entire train that this southbound brought down from Oakfield was to be dropped in Millinocket proper for the CMQ. After putting the train away in two tracks in the yard, the crew of the second 910 of the day got a clearance to head south to Brownville Junction. The snow was still lightly falling as the EMD trio rumbled light across North/South Twin Lake, capping off an excellent chase of these guys from Oakfield. I've only had success here one other time, and that was last year in quite similar conditions.

As mentioned in my 365 picture, today was exhausting. I put Teddy back together again, and was pretty proud that his stitch job wasn't too horrible. I won't be picking up a seamstress career anytime soon, but he'll be feeling better in no time. I'm so tired you can see my little wrinkles! Sheesh...that's why we're rejecting this today!

As the old legend says, there were three brothers - Kyi, Shchek and Khoryv and their sister Lybid…They founded the medieval city in the name of their eldest brother and named the city Kyiv, which eventually became the capital of Kievan Rus' and present-day Ukraine.
This monument was opened in May 2017.
The founders of Kyiv are depicted as small children. The composition consists of four bronze figurines of babies. Three boys - Kyi, Shchek and Khoryv are playing with paper ships on the stylized map of Kyiv, which is the basis of the composition.
There is a hidden symbolism in the paper boats that the three brothers launch on the Dnipro. According to the author Volodymyr Zhuravel: “A ship is a symbol of the soul. Everyone has their own ship. Someone holds it, someone lets it go, and someone has already let it go."
Kyi’s figure looks the tallest - his hands are raised up. Shchek is carefully looking at the boat in his hands. Khoryv is launching his boat on the Dnipro. The figure of the little girl - sister Lybid, can not be noticed right away. She is sitting a little to the side on a bronze bench, watching her brothers.
