As evidenced by the slight speed blur on the SOO #6002, this train was moving right along on this cold January, 1988 afternoon.
Superado el ibón de Estanés por la divisoria, se tiene una magnífica panorámica de la puerta de entrada al contiguo valle de Aguas Tuertas. Esta zona de piedras y canchales recibe el nombre de "As Crabetas". El GR-11 no discurre por donde alcanza la vista, sino que va más escondido por la zona sur del ibón.

As I stood in the darker interior of the Sugar Creek Covered Bridge, I couldn't help but imagine horses and buggies crossing it. Only one of five 19th century covered bridges remaining in the State of Illinois, it crosses Sugar Creek southeast of Chatham, Illinois. This shot shows the interior of the structure and reveals the single truss structure. The image was processed in Silver Effex Pro with a yellow cast.
According to Wikipedia, "The Burr truss bridge is 110 feet (34 m) long and 30 feet (9.1 m) wide. The bridge was constructed by Thomas Black; sources disagree on the date of construction, placing it at either 1827 or 1880. The State of Illinois acquired the bridge in 1963 and extensively renovated it two years later. The bridge closed to traffic in 1984 and is now part of a local park with a picnic area. It is one of only five historic covered bridges in Illinois and is the oldest of the remaining bridges. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 9, 1978."

As summer winds down and August turns to September, these bucks will start to change for the upcoming season. The soft velvet of their antlers will harden and fall off, summer friends will be lost as the bucks become more solitary. The pre-rut will begin.

As always, there was a beautiful sunset at Brewster Flats. This winter's storms brought significant erosion to the dunes and beach front. It was a heart-breaking site.

As the summer heat builds up and the heart of the Milky Way takes the C-position in the night sky, it's a great time to go "salvaging" all kinds of summer-exclusive deep-sky treasures from the sky.
In the constellation of Sagittarius, where the heart of the Milky Way is located, there is this pair of nebulae that are very impressive. The large one on the left, ranked eighth in Messier's catalog, is called the Lagoon Nebula; the small one on the lower right ranked twentieth in Messier's catalog, is called the Trifid Nebula.
The Lagoon Nebula, one of the two star-forming nebulae visible to the naked eye in the northern hemisphere, is between 4000 and 6000 light-years from Earth. It is a region of ionized hydrogen and is pink in color. On closer inspection, the nebula is also studded with dark spherical grains called Bok globulars. These are dense, dark clouds that are impervious to light, and you can imagine them as insect "cocoons" where new stars are being born. The nebula also interacts with the brightest stars in it, forming a spectacular tornado-like structure.
The Trifid Nebula, also a star-forming region, is not visible to the naked eye at a distance of about 4,100 light-years from Earth. It is less grand than the Lagoon Nebula but more detailed. It has both the pink color of the excited ionized hydrogen region, the blue color of the reflected starlight, and the opaque dark nebula that cuts the main body into three pieces, which is also the origin of the name of the Trifid Nebula.
As Autumn arrives in the Misty Glens of Scotland these magnificent creatures frequent the lower grounds.
As my Camera is being away serviced my submission for todays Macro Monday Theme of 'Zodiac" is this dried out tiny baby crab that did not make it to the sea.. HMM
Just for information .Cancer, which is Latin for crab, is the dimmest of the 12 constellations of the Zodiac, having only two stars above the fourth magnitude

As much as I hate living next to this bamboo jungle.... it does make for an interesting image every now and then.... but still not worth all the cursing and back braking work when it does invade my property!!!
This image does not do this jungle justice.... it is so dense and reaches across his entire property line... and stands at least 30-35' tall!!!
As I was in the area, I thought it'd be rude not to pop into Duxford and see what's going on. Hangar 3 often provides a chance for some moody lighting and the world's only airworthy Blenheim, restored as a night-fighter variant, was the perfect subject.

As our plans were ruined (a visit to Plymouth Hoe) on the weekend due to the weather we decided to take the girls up on to the hoe after school.
Bethany had bought herself some rollerskates with money that she had saved, she wanted to practice skating on the promenade and Imogen wanted to ride on her scooter that she got for Christmas.
When we got on to the hoe we got slightly windswept , we couldn't believe how windy it was, which also meant looking out we could see just how rough the sea still is.
It was a lovely but a very cold hour spent together.
As long as these continue to remain in the area, the photographs must continue. Photographed on an expired Aster plant on the grounds at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

As I watched and photographed the sunset, I looked away and noticed the sand. I love the dimension and texture it adds.
IC SD70 1020 leads the way of CN L521 as it approaches the Frankfort siding to meet contending CN traffic.
As many of my Flickr friends know, the Chambers Bay Golf Course/Grandview Trail is my most favorite place to take photos. I feel a great sense of peace when I am there and thus the many many shots you have all seen. I hope you all are not becoming too bored with it.....I haven't. The sky's seem to always be different, yet the same.
God's Hand is always evident here.
