This is your Tampa Bay - Artist Ariel Perez
Just outside of town beyond the blueberry fields, you’ll find Tampa Bay’s treasured artist, Ariel Perez. His warm smile welcomes you and his contemporary appearance makes it evident that he’s an artist. Inside, the space is lined with his stunning 5’ paintings bathed in window light which brings out every color and texture. Ariel’s Cuban accent, and the hint of “fire in the eyes”, draws you to the man and his work. He is unique, born in Havana, Cuba, and educated at the Institute of Industrial Design, majoring in fashion. He fell in love with his wife when they were teenagers living in Cuba, and in 1997 they married and currently reside in Odessa, FL. Making jewelry, shoes, and clothing were his profession in Cuba, now it’s his stunning paintings and piano coffee tables. He said that his mind is always designing and creating, and his work is how he expresses himself.
What will truly blow your mind are the Piano Coffee Tables he’s created. Musicians and non musicians alike will be intrigued to see tables that are art, containing the inside components of a piano, viewable under glass. Each table is sui generic, and that in itself will guarantee you’ll have a personal favorite as there is a piano coffee table created to suit every taste. Ariel started creating these tables in 2014 after he was making arrangements to have an old piano removed from his home when a friend suggested he do something with the cast iron plate, and the rest is history. I seem to recall a lot of television ads in the 1980s for "starving artist" sales. Maybe someone should have opened a food bank for them. No mention of velvet Elvis paintings.

Muniba at Clown Town
Like all other artists, Muniba Khurram aims to give her clients the best of her artistic abilities. She believes in playing with vibrant colors and flawless portrayal of true emotions. Her work speaks her heart out and is all about people, their expressions, dreams and aspirations.
Although wheel chair bound, her spirit and artistry knows no bounds. In fact she takes the agony of spinal cord injury as a challenge and is more determined to express her sentiments through her art work.
While doing her bachelor in fine arts she met a road accident which made her paraplegic. Currently, she is running her brand by the name ‘Muniba’s Canvas’ with the slogan ‘Let Your Walls Wear Colors’ and her medium is Oil Pastels. She believes in depicting the ethnic jewels of her region in an abstract way. Some of her work is purely abstract which depicts the humans’ expressions, their thoughts and dreams. Her paintings give the message of living life and represent the real personality of the artist.
More sorting of archive. This time three large boxes of catalogues, artist books, assemblings, 'zines etc.

The following quote by photographer Keith Carter encapsulates my philosophy about photography.
"I don't just look at the thing itself or at the reality itself; I look around the edges for those little askew moments-kind of like what makes up our lives- those slightly awkward, lovely moments."
When I am making photographs, I endeavor to absorb my surroundings and tune in to how my state of mind and my memories affect the existing elements; and how they all work together to produce my work.
CCSF Photography and You:
I first took a photography class at CCSF in 1982. It was Beginning Black & White Photography. This was the impetus for me to further my studies in photography. After completing my degree and working as a commercial photographer for a few years, I began working at CCSF as a part time instructor in 1997.
Over the past 15 years I have looked at CCSF Photography Department and fellow colleagues as my second family. I made several life-long friends in both my colleagues and former students. I was also able to continue to learn more about photography and its changing role in the photography world.
