The first instrument I ever got was a Gibson RD Artst bass, back in high school. Ever since, I've wanted an RD Artist guitar to make a matched set. Last year, I finally got one. :-) It's actually in pretty good shape for being 30 years old...the hardware is showing some corrosion, but it all works and sounds terrific.

When I saw these miniature artist mannequins, I couldn't resist making one of them an artist with beret, scarf, and at work at an easel. Some art supplies by Stephen La Rocco

Daniel's latest project for school was to create an African mask and shield. We bought him a large sheet of cardboard and some paints, and when he told me he was going to start working on the project, I said OK, I'll come downstairs and help you with it in a little bit. When I walked in ten minutes later he was already deep into the project, sprawled on the kitchen floor. My favorite photo from the set was this one, using forced perspective to emphasize the reach of Daniel's arm as he puts the final touches on his work.

Sometimes the right perspective is the most important thing to look for when you're photographing a subject. Do you get in close and use a wide angle, or do you stand back and zoom in? Each has its own advantages and disadvantages and alters the look of the scene in different ways. I'm pleased with the choice of close up and wide angle on this shot.

Theyyam (Malayalam: തെയ്യം‍) or Theyyattam or Thira is a popular Hindu ritual form of worship of North Malabar in Kerala state, India, predominant in the Kolathunadu area (consisting of present-day Kasargod, Kannur Districts, Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad and Vadakara & Koyilandy Taluks of Kozhikode of Kerala state. As a living cult with several thousand-year-old traditions, rituals and customs, it embraces almost all the castes and classes of the Hindu religion in this region. The performers of Theyyam belong to the indigenous tribal community, and have an important position in Theyyam. This is unique, since only in Kerala, do both the upper-caste Brahmins and lower-caste tribals share an important position in a major form of worship. The term Theyyam is a corrupt form of Devam or God. People of these districts consider Theyyam itself as a God and they seek blessings from this Theyyam. A similar custom is followed in the Tulu Nadu region of neighbouring Karnataka known as Bhuta Kola

Amaya Skye Hampton is 3 years younger than her sister, Sapphire. Her friends call her Amaya. After getting kicked out of the best boarding schools in Europe, her father sent her to a small school in Virginia where he could keep an eye on her. She followed her sister to Howard U so they could spend more time together. They have become very close (although they still have very different personalities) and are nearly inseparable.

Amaya is a talented artist, earning a BFA from university. She likes to work in acrylics and pastels. Her graphic arts line, studio7 includes all sorts of office supplies and personal items with her retro, modern designs on them.

On my trip to Japan I visited the Nagoya Castle. On my way out I noticed this gentleman capturing the same image I had been doing earlier. I have to say, I'm a little jealous of his method.

Tribute to my dear artist friend

BARBARA COOPER

My favorite artist, and dearest friend, BARBARA COOPER, ended her suffering back in 2007.

BC was a wonderful artist. I collected many of her works and have quite a few of her paintings in my apartments. It always seems that she is right there with me for I see her in her paintings.

BC is the person who gave me the cool FRENCH-ENGLISH dictionary with the hidden story inside. Somehow her guides, knew that of all her friends, it would be ADDA who would find that incredible story. I will always be grateful for that tremendously generous gift.

Adda was one of the first collectors of her incredible paintings, as well, as an advisor to her first venture into selling her paintings. (Ask more MONEY, was my advice! hahaha)

I was able to connect her with the folks at VISUAL AID who welcomed her in their arms. They provided her with vouchers for art supplies and wonderful heartfelt support.

BC was collected by many people in the BAY AREA. She won several awards and was featured in several art shows in Marin.

Every year BC contributed some of her art works to benefit VISUAL AID and other organizations.

She was deeply loved and appreciated by her friends and her art loving admirers.

my friend STEVIE passed away last week, (MAY 2013) and his sister has distributed some of his items. STEVIE also loved BC a lot and he had a huge collection of BC (Barbara Cooper) paintings. Most of the BC paintings went to me, which opened a flood of tears...remembrance of two friends who are no doubt parting and painting on another level....

Miss you my dear artist pal BC and I miss my cherished friend STEVIE...
