This is a tiny little canvas sitting on my windowsill on a miniature easel. It is actually what we gave all our guests for wedding favours last year. We commissioned a wonderful South African artist to paint us 80 of these, all individual and all one of a kind depicting either Scottish thistles or South African protea. It took her a year to do all of them, This was the one she did for me. They were awesome and are even more precious now as the artist has sadly passed away earlier this year. #macromondays #macromonday #windows #HMM

On Sept. 25th, we happened upon this artist hard at work, painting the Firehole Spring in Yellowstone National Park.

My curiosity & admiration got the best of me…..so I asked if I could photograph her while she worked……

Told her I wanted to capture the raw talent and passion that she exhibited and I promised to send an image to her for blessing and / or her use.

She politely accepted my offer, and then gave me her business card.

Upon returning home…….I researched her website and Bio….only to learn that she was a very accomplished and recognized artist.

Her humble and modest nature never let on to any of this…….so I feel truly honored to showcase and promote her talents, abilities, and dedication.

Her name is Rachel Pettit & her website can be found here: rachelpettit.com/

Before I posted this......I emailed her a copy.

Hope she's pleased with it....

Suggest paying her a visit to view her website gallery.

Perhaps soon you’ll find the finished product that she was working on here as we spoke.

You just never know who you might run into while on vacation……….especially in the National Parks.

Have a great Friday and weekend ahead……….

One Summer evening as my husband and I were walking on the Victorian Pier in Eastbourne we had the pleasure to watch Gerard Byrne, one of Ireland's leading contemporary artists, putting the finishing touches to his painting of the pier. He gave me permission to photograph him at work and subsequently used this photograph on his website.

For more details about Gerard you can visit his current website gerardbyrneartist.com/?fbclid=IwAR0-1UVV8eSGdsBF9P7c2ljT3...

Happy Saturated Saturday!

The Victoria and Albert Museum attracts a lot of artists as the human models do not move and there is plenty of time to work

This wall stopped me in my tracks. No matter your perspective the eyes follow you. I looked up this artist, RONE, who does some fabulous work all over the world.

Anche se di questi artisti di strada ce ne sono a "bezzeffe", questa mi ha colpito per l'espressione dolce e perchè non faceva la statua ma con movimenti delicati ed eleganti offriva frutti ai passanti

Even if there are som many street atrtists, this one captured my attention for her sweet expression and because she did not emulate a statue but with soft and elegant movement offered fruits to the people.

Cubism style painting by Ganesh Kelagina Beedu Shenoy.

This mural by Hendog, a graffiti artist who works secretly at night, was discovered in April 2021 on the wall of the hospital in Winchester. It is his tribute to the nurses for their work during the pandemic.

I am always happy to find a new mural by Hendog, who is sometimes described as Hampshire's answer to Banksy.

Here you can find those which I have discovered so far:

"A statue removed from an Islington park more than 30 years ago has been officially reinstated. 'Upon Reflection' is a self-portrait of artist Kevin Atherton, first unveiled in the Philip Noel-Baker Peace Garden, in Elthorne Park, in 1985.

But the statue, which depicts the artist gazing at his reflection in a pond, was vandalised and eventually removed after less than two years. The plinth has remained empty since.

The sculpture was thought to be lost, until the council’s heritage team found it in the basement of Islington Town Hall last year." (source and date of article unknown😭possibly 'Islington Gazette')

Originally when the Statue was Installed was plain Silvery Bronze colour. It was painted Silver (as here) but the Date that it was Painted Gold was sometime in 2024 (to be updated)
